What’s New on the Pop Music Scene

The music scene has been buzzing with new music, appearances and tour announcements. I don’t know about you,but the Spring/Summer is the best time for song and album releases. Who doesn’t like new music to listen to while relaxing, soaking up some sun, or even dancing at the hottest club this summer? Below are a few of recent releases in the Pop Music scene which have been ranked by me.

1. “Into You” by Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande released a new song from her forthcoming third album Dangerous Woman. We’re not going to call it a single because, let’s face it, do proper singles exist anymore? “Into You” sounds nothing like what we’ve heard from the album so far; “Dangerous Woman,” “Be Alright,” and “Let Me Love You (feat. Lil Wayne).” It’s full of synths, a big bass line that’s made for dance floor moves and make out sessions, and vocals for days. A total club tune.

Dangerous Woman is set to drop May 20.

2. “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake has released his new song, “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” his first new song since 2013. Where have you been Justin? Well, he’s still in the early stages of recording a fifth studio album and he’s starring in Dreamworks’ forthcoming movie Trolls with Pitch Perfect’s Anna Kendrick. He opted into recording a song for the movie, and that’s what has been blessing our years since its release on May 6. This is a new groovy, funky, catchy, dance summer track. I can’t help but snap my fingers and clap my hands along to the beat.

3. “Write On Me” by Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony has released yet another hit song, “Write On Me,” from their sophomore album, 7/27. The song is different from their recent single “Work From Home” that was released in February. It has a tropical island-y beat with a breezy vibe. They’ve slowed it down a bit, but that doesn’t make it less enjoyable.

7/27 is set to release on May 27.

4. “In Common” by Alicia Keys

After four years without new music, Alicia Keys is back with her brand new single “In Common.” It’s infused with a down-tempo Latin rhythm with tropical notes that gives me a total island vibe. I can’t help but dance in my seat whenever I hear it. This song will be all over the radio this summer. “In Common” will appear on her upcoming sixth studio album that is expected later on this year on RCA Records.
