With rumors swirling of their first new album in over six years, enigmatic emo heroes Brand New have a released a new single.
“I Am a Nightmare” comes just 24 hours after a 30-second snippet of the song hit Amazon last night. Featuring yet another new sound from a band who are constantly evolving their sounds, “I Am a Nightmare” sees the Long Island natives channel Joy Division and New Order in all the best ways. Critics of the track have said it sounds far too different from the sound the four-piece crafted in 2006’s The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, a sound they later matured with 2009’s Daisy. Even their new tracks they played on last years tour with Circa Survive offer a different yet the same style. Last year’s single “Mene” (which is below), is nothing like what was seen on Daisy so those of the belief that this is the first song that truly departs clearly have not been listening
Brand New are set to tour with Modest Mouse later this year. Good luck getting a ticket, however, as they’ve proven to be a scalpers paradise. If you’ve got the dough you can catch one of the best live experiences I’ve ever seen at any of the dates below throughout the summer. That is unless you’re in the East Coast, most of those are sold out!
