Known as modern country music’s bad bitch queen, singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert tends towards sassy, confident lyrics that tell you she’s a force to be reckoned with. Occasionally, she’ll dip towards more serious reflection with hints of self deprecation. “Vice,” Lambert’s first new track released since 2014’s Platinum, fits into this latter category.

“When it hurts like this,  you gotta play it twice,” Lambert sings, opening the song after the scratch of a record. “Vice” is a guitar-ridden moment of regret, with mentions of drinking too much and sleeping with the wrong person. It’s self reflection at its finest, where Lambert attempts to figure out this cycle she can’t escape. Considering her more recent personal life was so public–Lambert was married to fellow country artist Blake Shelton up until last year–it’s hard not to make assumptions about the song’s source material.

Yesterday, she opened up on Instagram about how writing has helped her through the last year, thanking her fans for being with her. Lambert said:

The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing, … Of learning to be honest …. Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places … having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings… All of them. I got to know my guitars…became friends with a pencil and paper … Used melodies to lead me places I had never been…. Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine. This means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey. #vice#musicismedicine
