It’s been six years since we last heard from Fleet Foxes, but fans of the acclaimed folk band finally got good news earier this week with the announcement of their long-awaited third album.
Crack-Up will be released on June 16 on Nonesuch Records. The album is produced by band members Robin Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset, and is their first for Nonesuch, having released their previous two albums through Bella Union and Sub Pop. The album is also their first without drummer Josh Tillman, who left the band after the release of Helplessness Blues and began a successful solo career under the name Father John Misty.
Fleet Foxes will promote Crack-Up with an American tour this summer, which includes a headlining spot at the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island on August 7.
At the same time as the album’s announcement, the band also released its first single, the nine-minute long epic “Third of May/Ōdaigahara”, which you can listen to below.
