Music News: Neon Trees Releases “Songs I Can’t Listen To” Video

It’s been a month since pop rock outfit Neon Trees released their new single “Songs I Can’t Listen To,” and it’s time for the video to match. One of the things I like best about Neon Trees is that the group aesthetic changes from album to album—sophomore album Picture Show had the retro ‘50s glam vibes, while Pop Psychology embraced the neon colors and wacky prints of the 80s. “Songs I Can’t Listen To” introduces the new aesthetic, and it looks like all signs now point to the 90s.

The video for “Songs I Can’t Listen To” is stripped of Neon Trees’ usual crazy bright colors, instead settling for a darker, richer palate. The changes make sense—the look matches the darker, guitar-heavy sound of the single. Tyler Glenn is rocking a grunge-inspired outfit, complete with a flannel shirt tied around his waist.

Watch the video here:

Best part? No contest: Tyler Glenn dancing out his feelings on the roof, Footloose-style. Though the amount of instrument destruction is worth mentioning here. Hell yes, rock spirit.

“Songs I Can’t Listen To” is available on iTunes HERE and Amazon HERE.
