Top 10 Upcoming Music Albums

Just a few more days until summer comes to an end. That means time to get ready to go back to your studies. But don’t be so upset. After all, you are starting a new year (or semester) with new stuff to do, new people to meet and…hey!….why not listen to some new music as well? Here’s a little list I made with the Top 10 upcoming music albums you should NOT miss. Time to start cleaning  that iPod and start making space for some new tunes!

1. Nine Inch Nails – Hesitation Marks

NIN fans, September is the month you have been waiting for. The eighth studio album by Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails will be released on September 3rd. Reznor co-produced the album alongside friend collaborators Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. Be sure to check their iTunes page for a full stream of their album.

In the meantime, watch the video for “Came Back Haunted“, the first single of the album:

2. Arctic Monkeys – AM

One of my favorite bands has a new album coming! ‘AM‘ is the fifth studio record from Arctic Monkeys and it will be released on September 9th. The album will feature contributions from Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) alongside The Coral’s former member Bill Ryder-Jones and Elvis Costello’s drummer, Pete Thomas.

3. Jack Johnson – From Here To Now To You

It’s been a while since we hear something from Mr. Johnson. To be released on September 17th, ‘From Here To Now To You’ was recorded at Johnson’s Mango Tree Studio in Hawaii and it will be his first set of brand new original songs since his 2010 album ‘To The Sea album’.

4. MGMT – MGMT

We posted about MGMT a few weeks ago, but it doesn’t hurt to do it again. Their self-titled third album will be released on September 17th. Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser worked with Dave Fridmann, who helped co-produced and mixed Oracular Spectacular (2008) and Congratulations (2010).

5. The Naked and Famous – In Rolling Waves

Another band we mentioned a few weeks ago also makes our Top 10 list. TNAF will release ‘In Rolling Waves’ on September 17th. This would be their second album after ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’ from 2010. I don’t know about you, but I really liked their debut album, so I am having high hopes for this one.

6. Kings of Leon – Mechanical Bull

Mechanical Bull, scheduled to be released on September 20th, will be the sixth studio album from the band and it comes after a long (very long) period of fan speculation on the future of the band. Luckily for us, the Followill brothers are back and with new material.

The first single released for the album was ‘Supersoaker’, but I leave you with my personal favorite and second single, ‘Wait For Me‘:

7. Mazzy Star – Seasons Of Your Day

Remember that beautiful song called ‘Fade Into You‘ from 90’s band Mazzy Star? I love that song. Well, the band led by the unforgettable voice of Hope Sandoval is back and with a new album underway. ‘Seasons of Your Day’ will be out on September 24th and it will be the band’s first LP since ‘Among My Swan’ from 1996.

Hear the first single from the album, “California“:

8. Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2

Fellow colleague and friend Luciana Villalba will be very excited with this. Justin Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2’ is scheduled to be released on September 27th. It will be JT’s fourth studio album and considered the second half of a two-piece project, being supplemented by his third studio album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ released back on March.

Get ready for friday night  and watch the video for ‘Take Back The Night‘, lead single of the album:

9. Panic! at the Disco – Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!

‘Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!’ is scheduled to be released on October 8th. According to an interview done with MTV, Brendon Urie mentions that the album was inspired by the city of Las Vegas.

The lead single,”Miss Jackson”, was released back on July, but I leave you with ‘This is Gospel‘, their second single:

10. Pearl Jam – Lightning Bolt

Last but not least. Pearl Jam. “Lightning Bolt” will be the tenth studio album of the band and it will be released on October 15th. On July 11th, fans waited patiently until a countdown clock on the band’s website hit zero and showed the news of the album as well as an extensive North American fall tour announcement

Watch the video for ‘Mind Your Manners‘ lead single of the album.

Now is your turn to speak! What other albums are you waiting for in 2013?
