Continuing our Best of 2011 lists, here are TheYoungFolks.com Top 10 Music Albums of 2011! Tough, tough decisions, so watch out for our ties and honorable mentions!

10. Tie: Born This Way – Lady Gaga | Nipsey Hussle – The Marathon Continues

Lady Gaga had us being reborn at the edge of glory, marrying the night to dance in Nebraska with Judas, while we were a little dissapointed with the album, with time it started to grow on us and “Born This Way” managed to sell 1.1million copies in the first week (and counting) and we’re excited to see Gaga in the Born This Way Concert Tour in 2012. On the other hand, the west coast rapper Nipsey Hussle continued his marathon mixtape and now we are way too excited to see what he will bring next year with South Central State Of Mind.

 

 

 

 9. Tie: El Camino – The Black Keys | Talk That Talk – Rihanna

The Black Keys do it again with “El Camino”, bringing us one of the years most critically aclaimed albums. While they parted ways with their previous album “Brothers“, we can’t deny that “El Camino” had us jamming all the way to the end.
Rihanna talked dirty, and we like it, like it. “Talk That Talk” is more of the same Rihanna we already listen to in our radio, this time around just a whole new level of sexy and even more dance tunes are here for your listening pleasure.

 

 

 

8. Tie: The Young Folk EP | Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming – M83 | Femme Fatale – Britney Spears
 

In a way, we are not even remotely associated to the band The Young Folk, however, we couldn’t help but love their EP and their sound, and I guess now we can say we have been associated and we are proud of it.
French electronic band M83 and their sophomore album “Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming”  had us dancing, and by us I mean TYF’s staff and the Victoria’s Secret Angels in ther TV spot with their single “Midnight City“.
The princess of pop, Britney Spears, made her comeback with “Femme Fatale“, an album packed with party beats and synthethizers that had us dancing like criminals.

 

7. Tie: Rose Tinted EP – Stumbleline| Cole World: The Sideline Story – J.Cole
 

“Rose Tinted EP” by Stumbleline and its ambient electronic sound transported us to a chill environment, while “Cole World: The Sideline Story” showed us songs J. Cole released previously in his mixtapes as well as new tunes from one of hip-hop’s best freshmans of the year.

 

 

 

6. Tie: Wasting Light – Foo Fighters | Drive Original Soundtrack

 

Foo Fighters always manage to put together a good album, it is no surprise that “Wasting Light” got six nominations at the Grammys. On the other hand, Drive’s Original Soundtrack was the perfect complement to the amazing film, we couldn’t stop listenting to it the moment we left the movie theater.

 

 

5. Tie: Ceremonials – Florence + the Machine | All Things Bright and Beautiful – Owl City | Mylo Xyloto – Coldplay

Florence and The Machine’s second album “Ceremonials” was led by the single “What the Water Gave Me“, a record packed with art rock, indie pop and powerful ballads that had more than one singing to the top of their lungs. In the meantime, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” by Owl City was an album released this year of mainly synth-pop/electronica while Coldplay’s “Mylo Xyloto” broke sale records with their concept album about two characters in love in a dystopian environment that had more than one singing about paradise.

 

 

 

4. Camp – Childish Gambino

Donald Glover’s alter ego, Childish Gambino, had his debut hip-hop album Camp released this year, and the wait was totally worht it. While it didn’t break records worldwide, Gambino fans were happy to finally have their artist release an album worth the hype with the qualities that every upcoming rapper should have, that Gambino delivers everytime he’s on the mic. I’m never leaving Camp if you ask me.

 

 

 

 

3. Take Care – Drake

Drake’s “Take Care” was the album he needed to make, trascending hip-hop’s average sound, the production of this album was on another level, and it is ultimately Drake’s approach on making an honest album that all of his fans greatly enjoyed.

 

 

 

 

 

2. 21 – Adele

This year you couldn’t escape Adele, no matter how hard you tried. From “Rolling In The Deep” to “Set Fire To The Rain”, Adele exposed a beautiful voice, true soul and heartfelt lyrics to the world. 2011 was definitely Adele’s year.

 Watch The Throne!

 

The collaboration we had all been waiting for. Two of hip-hop’s greatest take the throne in this years best album of 2011. While both Jay-Z and Kanye praised how far they have come in life, you can’t deny the fact that the production of this album is exceptional and that the lyrics were catchy and now you too want to ball so hard.
