Ultra Music Festival is the world’s biggest electronic music festival in which the top DJ’s of the world attend, that takes place in Miami, FL during Winter Music Conference. Unlike other years, this year Ultra will be a 3 day event.
I have been able to attend for the past 3 years (2008, 2009, 2010) and I can tell you that there is no other music festival like Ultra. The vibe, the people, the music, everything makes this event great and if you have a chance to head over to my hometown, Miami, for Ultra 2011 please do so, you won’t regret it.
Today, they just announced the Phase 2 Lineup for the event. Now LOOK AT THAT LINEUP! If this is Phase 2, I hope we have more surprises for Phase 3! And yes, March is around the corner so you already know ticket prices will be going up. Anyways, here it is:
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. As a lover of electronic music, this line up is sick. And what is even better is the fact that its 3 days of Mayhem!!
DJs/Bands you should most DEFINITELY see:
Day 1.
– Tiesto: the guy is a legend of electronic music, you just have to see him. I personally I’m not a big fan of trance but Tiesto can make the crowd go crazy.
– Carl Cox: I’ve seen him every year and his tent is always one of the best ones. Definitely stop by!
– Benny Benassi: Oh My Benny. I’d literally do anything to see him perform again. His DJ sets are ones of the most memorable ones always. Could never forget how he closed Ultra ’08 that had the crowd chanting “One more!”
– Fedde Le Grand: I’ll put my hands up for Detroit!!

Day 2.
– deadmau5: House’s new king? Most likely. I still remember when he wasn’t as famous as he is today, now he’s been played everywhere..and playing EVERYWHERE! From awards shows to special appearances, deadmau5 is a must.
– Underworld: YES. THAT IS ALL.
– Empire of the Sun: this Australian electronic band has been featured lately in commercials and TV shows, gaining popularity around the world. “Walking On A Dream” & “We Are The People” are ones of their most recognized hits.
– Afrojack: By now you must have heard of “Take Over Control” on the radio. Afrojack is one of the biggest representatives of Electro-House at the moment!
– Cut/Copy: your doses of Electro-Pop.
– Boys Noize: …..YES.
– Steve Aoki: “I’m In The House” live is out of this world. No. This guy’s whole DJ set is out of this world.
Day 3.
– The Chemical Brothers: this should be a given. OUI.
– David Guetta: House at its best. Unbelievable live and you’ll notice almost everyone knows a song from him.
– Armin van Buuren: Like trance? Then yes. You HAVE to go see AVB. Also, he has been named the #1 DJ in the world for 4 consecutive years.
– Erick Morillo: Words cannot express my LOVE for Colombia’s #1 DJ. Must. Must. Must see him. Get ready to see the Colombian flags waving in the crowd lol
– Crystal Castles: fell in love with them in 2009, this year our romance continues.
– Will.I.Am: don’t be fooled! His DJ set last year was…there are no words. His tent had one of the best vibes in the whole festival.
– MSTRKRFT: Their remixes are sick.
I’m loving the lineup, but the thing is that my heart is with Swedish House Mafia. Unfortunately, some schedule conflicts happened between UMF and WMC, so Swedish House Mafia’s 10 hour event, “One Night Stand At Masquerade Motel” is happening at a different venue with other elite DJs performing as well.You cannot fathom how much I love Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell. So what I would most probably do is go to UMF Friday and Sunday, and visit SHM on Saturday.
At any rate, whether you love or just like electronic music, if you have the chance to go, GO. People from all of the corners around the world attend UMF and they love it. Ultra Music Festival is .. AN EXPERIENCE, I haven’t met someone who hasn’t gone at least once and doesn’t want to go back! I can tell you stories about my friends who hated and couldn’t stand techno or house and after they went to UMF they were converted lmao.
