How Long Can You Clap For Freedom?

In lieu of Memorial Day I stumbled across a game that stirred my American patriotism unlike any that I had come across before. To call it a game, however, might be a stretch of the definition. Americlap, by Chris Bulch, is simple enough in concept but can only be thoroughly understood when taking it for a test drive. The game can be installed on Windows, Mac, and Linux via the free .jar file on his website. The instructions are simple: “Keep clapping at your microphone as hard as you can to keep the American flag flying high; should you stop clapping and let it hit the floor then clearly you must hate freedom and/or be a communist.”

To properly enjoy this game I would recommend mustering up a group of fellow patriots, pouring a round of cold, American beer, and clapping until you physically can’t clap anymore. The mechanic is a little ludicrous but the end result is a loud, obnoxious explosion of American pride, of which is sure to be enjoyed by all of those in attendance. It may not be the next go-to party game, but it’s definitely worth bringing out on the occasional holiday. Raise your rifles and let your flags fly; this game will make you sweat with American pride.
