Destiny: The Dark Below – Expansion 1 (360, XONE, PS3, PS4)

The first expansion for Bungie’s Destiny goes live today, and it includes a wealth of new weapons, armors, gear and a level cap raised to 32, all wrapped around newly accessible Strikes, Raids and competitive multiplayer maps. The core of the expansion is set on Earth’s moon, beneath which lies a Hellmouth of darkness. So, muster your courage and flashlights, Guardians. It’s time to get back to work.

The Talos Principle (PC, PS4)

Available this Thursday is among Gamescom’s Best in Show titles, The Talos Principle, an independent first person puzzler by Croteam (Serious Sam), in which players explore a world abound with philosophical science fiction, receiving instructions by an unclear, omniscient entity as you solve puzzles with lasers and blocks. The game takes the challenge of puzzling adventures like Portal and poses a challenge of intuition to the player, while feeding commentary on the meaning of life, what it means to have intelligence and various metaphysical parables of that sort, written by Tom Jubert (Faster Than Light, The Swapper).

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osyrus (PC PS4 XONE)

Square Enix brings a sequel to the critically acclaimed Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. In her new adventure, Lara Croft travels to Egypt for some four player co-op action, a series first, as she is forced to make an alliance with a rival and a god to defeat the evil entity. Whilst battling hordes of enemies and solving puzzles together, players still compete for the highest quantity of treasures throughout the quest through the temple of Osyrus.

Objection! Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney moves to the Nintendo 3DS with a trilogy package. Capcom’s iconic portable layer, Phoenix Wright, stars in a high resolution, drawn, saga of stories as he prepares evidence, witnesses and crime scene investigations for his intense showdowns in the courtroom. As an additional feature, the japanese version of the game, “Gyakuten Saiban 123 Naruhodo Selection,” will be included in the package, allowing players to alternate between the game’s two languages. Halo Spartan Strike (PC, Mobile)

A unique announcement: This game is now delayed until 2015, despite being set to release this Friday, most likely for 343 to put more effort into fixing the multiplayer issues on Master Chief Collection, so if you were on the lookout for this game this week and don’t see it on the market, this is probably why! But fear not, they’ll get to finishing Spartan Strike soon…

A sequel to 2013’s Halo: Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike is the Windows exclusive follow up to the “twin stick” overhead shooter style, now with an upgraded look, improved and intuitive touch controls and plenty of extras. The new story pits the Spartans against the Covenant once again, in a simulation of the events of New Mombasa during Halo 2.
