What could’ve been a nice nod to the first season fell short due to predictable plot points and bad logic. The Raza crew was once again helping a colony against corporate soldiers, but this time with a twist because they saved the soldiers from another corporation, and they wanted to use diplomacy instead. It’s nice to see how far the crew has come because in season one they would’ve just killed all the Traugott soldiers. The issue is that the diplomacy worked too fast and too easily, which only meant that the colony would be violent, which they were.
Their actions caused conflict, thus the rest of the episode, except there were issues within that. Six was in trouble because of this move and got captured and tied up. Two then decided to walk up to him even though he’s making noises suggesting otherwise, and because she should be smarter than that. I expect that kind of irrational behavior out of Three. The main reason the colony attacked was because of the explosion, which was somehow triggered because of The General, but he was never mentioned until he decided to pop up. It made no sense. On top of that, the crew leaves when the colony sides with The General even though the crew knows he’s bad, especially Six. They should’ve taken him out right there and then, but The General had to reveal how bad he was so that the heroes could come back and get rid of him. Let’s not forget that Six chose to stay because he felt like it. There was no real reason for his choice.
Rant aside, the most interesting part of the episode was when The Android found Sarah’s consciousness. Sarah was somehow able to avoid The Android even if she couldn’t completely hide her presence. Sarah is also able to create her own reality, so who knows what she’s been doing in there. One thing’s clear and it’s that Three has to deal with this new development. His love is mentally alive, kind of, but he’s not physically. It’ll be interesting to see what he decides to do going forward. Also, what Sarah wants to do because I assume she won’t want to be virtual forever.
The new additions to the crew might also prove to change things up. Adrian has taken over for Tabor and will now provide the crew with missions and other information that they need. He seems cool and it isn’t implied that he has ulterior motives. His body adds more muscle to the crew, but I don’t like her banter with Three. It doesn’t feel natural.
Finally, Ryo is out for blood. He’s assembled assassins and bounty hunters to kill the crew of the Raza and take back the blink drive. He must no longer see them as friends.
