Wynonna Earp 2×07 Review: “Everybody Knows”

Who’s the baby daddy? It turns out that Doc might not be the father, and it could instead be a Revenant named Jonas. Either way, the baby is going to have some interesting genes. On the other hand, it could be an immortal heir, or it could be a half demon heir. Knowing this makes the baby’s potential life seem a lot more interesting especially if it’s half a demon because the question becomes if it would be able to use Peacemaker.

The reveal that Jonas was a revenant was a great touch because it doesn’t seem like something like that would be possible, but it also adds drama for Wynonna and Doc. Wynonna now knows that she might be having a half demon baby, you know, the things she hunts and kills all the time. Doc was coming to terms with being a father and now he might not even have the opportunity to do it.

One issue with the whole Jonas confrontation was at the end when Wynonna let him talk down to her for so long. There was no way that he was going to actually raise the child, so it didn’t feel right that she wasn’t standing up for herself.

One positive from the entire situation was seeing Nicole away from her job. It turns out she’s a funny character, watching her trying to lie was surprisingly good, and her drunk side was hilarious. The show needs more Haught moments like those and less of the dramatic ones.

Another addition to this season should be more Doc, Dolls and Jeremy team ups. The three of them together are hilarious. Doc and Dolls are like two brothers that get along just enough, and their banter is what makes them interesting to watch. Jeremy adds his awkward humor and accidents to the mix. Watching the three of them trying to work while being bound to each other was worth it. Also, how they manage to get out of their situation by simply outranking the enemy, more funny trio moments like this, please.

On the other hand, Jeremy isn’t always so funny. I feel that he’s supposed to be the comic relief, but he plays into the role too much. The stake out scene didn’t evoke any chuckles. Also, that seen made no sense because they were doing a terrible job at staking out the place.

The end of the episode left us with Waverly finally revealing that she might not be an Earp at all. What this means for their family, or her character is unclear, but maybe the next episode will give us some answers.

Wynonna Earp airs Fridays @ 10/9c on Syfy.
