Wynonna Earp 2×10 Review: “I See A Darkness”

It’s a race against time to save Nicole. What made her illness work for the episode was that it was supernatural. Anytime that’s involved, there’s usually a cure. The real question is what it is and if it’s going to cost somebody something. Aside from the stakes of the cure, it was nice to see everyone so involved in helping out Nicole. Everyone was immediately on board and it showed that they really care about Haught. She’s not simply Waverly’s girlfriend, but their friend. The only thing that didn’t work about the people that cared about her was Shay. She was completely thrown in for drama, but she quickly proved to not be a threat, which made her being there feel unnecessary to the plot.

The person that was struggling the most was Waverly. She was about to lose her lover and people will do anything to save the people they love. For instance, give a supernatural widow a ring that will resurrect her demon husband who put a curse on the family and anyone Wyatt’s killed. It’s not an easy decision to make, but she didn’t see any other options. Even after Gretta helped her, it just lead to the same path. It’s for that reason that it was understandable why she did what she did. Yes, Wynonna did end up getting the cure, but when you only have a day to save someone precious to you then you might not be willing to wait on a chance.

Wynonna was a boss in this episode. Hitting Mercedes with the truck and then shooting the hell out of her. Then Earp gladly extracted the venom and delivered the cure. Too bad Waverly had already done what she did. Now the question is what happened to Wynonna? Is she in some pocket dimension, or did her life go back to the way it was before she moved back to Purgatory?

I have to say that the Widows aren’t as big a threat as the show makes them out to be. Doc and Wynonna seemed to take Mercedes down fairly quickly, and they didn’t even need to use Peacemaker. Aside from the venom that they spit, The Widows don’t really do much.

Shout out to Officer Nedley for taking his beating and not revealing a secret. He took his beating with a smile and cracked a couple of jokes along the way. I have to admit that I wouldn’t have guessed that Wynonna would leave the ring to him. Good job, Nedley!

Rosita is now in a tough spot because Wynonna knows she’s a Revenant. Earp even admitted that she’d kill her, but she’d leave her for last. That’s not comforting. Also, Rosita is a vitale member to the team because she helped Dolls and saved Waverly. Hopefully Wynonna will reconsider.

Gretta proves to be another threat in the team’s way. She’s pissed that her sister died because of them and now she made Wynonna and Doc disappear. Poor Doc is stuck in the well again. What happens if they escape? Is this a one time revenge plot, or is Gretta truly out for blood?

Also, what does The Order do? Again, they seem completely useless in the grand scheme of things. They need an episode focused on them so we can understand why they’re important.
