Aaron Smith, better known by his stage name, Shwayze just released a new mixtape called “Love Stoned” on Tuesday available for download online at www.aaronsmithmusic.com .
I’ve been a fan of Shwayze’s work ever since I saw him performing live around two years ago in TRL. The song that made me fall in love was “Buzzin”, his first hit song, also featured as the name of his MTV reality show called by the same name in which he appeared with his partner Cisco Adler.
I have to admit that with this mixtape and after two released albums, Shwayze has come of age. He’s improved his lyrics as well as his style. What first drew me to his music was the acoustic beats that made the music easy to jam to, the fusion of rap and an coustic guitar made him unique from any other rappers I had heard.
Before the “Love Stoned” mixtape, we see Shwayze using more electronic sounds in his second album titled “Let It Beat”. Some people say that they don’t like Shwayze’s new sound, but I’ll have to disagree with that statement.
“Love Stoned” is a hyped up record. From the moment I played the 1st song, I couldn’t stop jammin’. The beats, the lyrics and just the party vibe the songs give you that make you want to dance. This time Shwayze is fusing sounds like if David Guetta ever decided to collaborate with Drake, songs that with more public approval, I can guarantee can go to the Billboard Hot 100. The acoustic sounds that characterize Shwayze still remain, in songs like “Said It All B4 (David Edit)” , which is a bonus track version of the same song but with the beats of a guitar instead of the techno sounds from the Minority Edit version for all the hippie lovers out there. By both songs being performed in different beats, we notice how versatile Shwayze is and that his catchy lyrics can be put in diverse genres and still be awesome.
My top favorite songs are definitely “Love Letter” featuring The Cataracs, “Saturday” featuring Chanel West Coast, and “Pretty Girl”

Aaron Smith is an artist that get better everyday that passes, in my opinion this shouldn’t even have been a mixtape but another released album. “Love Stoned” just proves me and all of his fans that he should keep doing what he’s doing. Whether it is experimenting with different sounds or sticking to the acoustic beats or both, Shwayze is here to stay. I can’t wait until he releases his new album, meanwhile I still have “Love Stoned” on repeat.
