TV Review: Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special

Okay, when your reaction to the first few minutes of the episode are: What the hell did I just get myself into; you know you’re watching an amazing episode.

However, I hate that we, as PLL-Obsessers, know more than the characters; we just know too much! I mean the fact that Toby gave this freakishly scary look as Garret left Spencer’s house made me want to scream, “SPENCER! TOBY IS PART OF ‘A’!!!”

The fact that Ezra said he had a “meeting” that night and couldn’t come to the party seemed a little fishy. I know left a lot of people in suspicion that he was lying. I’m interested to know what people were thinking he was doing.

Then, of course Mona has something to do with everything. Pills…really? That’s all I have to say about that.

What shall I continue with? The several attempts at murder of the girls on the train, or that little, blonde girl you wanted off your screen because you know you’ll get terrible nightmares for the rest of the week.

The train: Seriously, what just happened…

It literally seemed like a surreal dream I was living in, no joke. It was scary. At first my impression was like, OMG that’s an awesome idea to have a Halloween party on a moving train! But the fact that ‘A’ captured Aria and put her in a wooden box, next to the dead body of Garret, and attempted to push her off the train, made me think that maybe a train Halloween party isn’t such a bright idea.

The fact that there were one too many ‘A’s on that train ride made me jump out of my chair and go hide under the covers; it was creepy. Especially the part where the Caleb’s look-alike started to touch Hanna and then Hanna saw that Caleb was across the room; borderline scary. And when a different ‘A’ started to choke Spencer; that scared the crap out of me. It was so relieving to see that Paige was the one who saved her; I was never a huge fan of Paige, until now.

As much scariness as there was, I got to give it to the directors and producers of the show who got Adam Lambert in the episode. HE WAS FANTASTIC! I feel like we haven’t seen much of him at all in the music world, and this is definitely a moment for him to make an awesome comeback. Well done, Adam Lambert!

Back to the scary stuff…the little, blonde girl.

Umm…what?! Questions that went through my head:

1. Who is this girl?

2. Why does she keep disappearing and reappearing?

3. Why is she really cold?

4. Where the hell did she go after she disappeared from Hanna’s room?

5. How was the blanket so neatly folded after Ashley covered the girl with the blanket?

My first impression when I saw her was: She’s obviously a ghost. But then as we progressively realized that she’s a legit, yet creepy, young girl, I wondered what her situation was. The whole “my sister tells my mother lies about me, and now my mother is mad at me” is a story that I didn’t buy. I have this like weird feeling that she is going to reappear in the Winter season, and freak us all out.

Oh, and another thing. (before the death of Garret) Why was he being so informative to Spencer? If you missed the episode this is basically what he said: He and Jenna went over to Ali’s house, and Jenna and Ali started getting physical with each other, in which Garret took Ali’s field hockey stick and kept hitting Ali with it. Apparently, Garret did not kill Ali, but Jenna had the impression he did.

So who killed Ali then if Garret didn’t?

Don’t let me forget the part with Ali and Aria’s dad on the day Ali was murdered…weird. I’m assuming another affair. Not so surprised, to say the least. I have this theory that Ali and Aria’s dad had an affair, but the dad broke it off with Ali to have an affair with Meredith. Maybe it makes sense, maybe it doesn’t, but in short, I hate Aria’s dad. Word to the wise: never marry a man like Aria’s dad.

The last few minutes of the episode was just like a “What just happened?” moment. When Toby broke the cooler, and along with the ice and drinks was a dead body in a huge bag that read, “Charon & Sons Funeral Directory.” I’ll assume that it is Ali’s dead body, considering it was dug up in the Summer season, and now…here it is.

I must admit, hands down, that this Halloween special was significantly better than last year’s. It was a combination of amazing and amazing. I must say that Pretty Little Liars ceases to disappoint its viewers. I love the show, and I know everyone who watches it loves it too. I’ve come to the realization that you can’t just watch an episode and say, “What ever, I’m not watching that next week.” But, you will always here somebody say, “I NEED TO WATCH THIS EVERY WEEK, I DON’T CARE WHAT KIND OF HOMEWORK I HAVE!” It’s legit; everyone who watches the show, loves and obsesses over it, and that might even be an understatement.

Don’t forget to watch the Winter Premiere of Pretty Little Liars on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 8PM EST!
