Bachelor In Paradise Season 5, Week 5 Review: Breakups and Babies Take Over

It was not all sunny skies and rainbows in Week 5 of Bachelor in Paradise. Why? Because one of the stronger couples, and the one who was the most talked-about, broke up. Ultimately, Colton decided he wasn’t into his relationship with Tia anymore and they realized they weren’t right for each other. Of course, this had Tia in tears, even if in the end they both decided to leave.

Their departure from Paradise put all the other couples on edge. From Krystal to Jenna, the ladies started to question each of their men regarding their intentions and if they wanted to try connections out with anyone else. Of course they said they’re solid but this is Paradise and things change quickly.

Speaking of, some former Paradise-goers decided to crash the party. Not only did Ashley and her beloved Jared come to the beach with a date card, they also got engaged right in front of Ashley’s ex, Kevin. But to make it up to him, they granted him and Astrid the date. That really didn’t smooth too many things over since Kevin complained to everyone about them being there. But really, can you blame the guy? No one would want to watch a recent ex get engaged right in front of them.

Now, Ashley and Jared weren’t the only Paradise alums stopping by the beach. Carly and Evan, along with Jade and Tanner, stopped by with their children in tow. The couples got to choose who went on the date. After meeting everyone, Kendall and Joe won. Well, kind of.

Their date was babysitting the couples’ kids. This was the best thing to happen in Paradise history. Poor Joe tried, but he was the worst as Tanner and Jade’s daughter, Emmy, went nuts in his arms. This was all while Carly and Evan’s daughter, Bella, stayed cool and calm. The best line was when the parents came back and Joe said, “any longer and I would have fainted.”

Things started to get weird during a fireside truth or dare session with some of the couples. Shu, the recently arrived Russian from Ben’s season, was asked if she believed in love at first sight. She said yes and stared right at Kamil, who had openly made it clear he was with Annaleise. In Shu’s confessions she said she could tell he’s into her. However, in Kamil’s confessions he said he was definitely not.

Jordan ended up getting a date card and Shu turned him down so she could have a shot with Kamil. Shu tried to convince Kamil to try things out but he kept telling her he’s with Annaleise. You feel bad for the guy because he was trying to be as nice as he could but Shu kept saying she didn’t believe him.

To make things worse, Kamil brought the issue up with Annaleise who went to Shu to lay down the law. Annaleise made the mistake of bringing up the rumor that Shu was a witch and that didn’t end their conversation on good terms.

When a newcomer arrived, Shu got asked on the date and again, she turned it down. After some heart-to-hearts about how awful she was at Paradise, Shu realized she wanted another shot with Jordan, who recently returned from a date with Cassandra.

The conversation was kind of creepy as they sat near a burning photo of Kamil in the firepit next to them while spooky music played in the background. In the end, Jordan told her he wanted to further his connection with Kamil. So, basically in one day, Shu turned down two guys while getting turned down twice herself.

This series of unfortunate events led us right into the “most dramatic finale ever” next week. Stay tuned and have the popcorn ready.
