For this Thanksgiving dinner, Dynasty served a dish full of drama and bad moves. Seriously, most characters made terrible decisions that put them in even worse predicaments! While a few climbed their way out of it (i.e., Fallon, Sam), others weren’t so lucky (i.e., Adam, Vanessa). There’s a lot to be grateful for in this soapy TV series, but in some cases, I’d be grateful if Dynasty could course-correct the poor sense of judgment its characters have in their lives. Beyond just the drama and betrayal, it’d be nice for them to have some some common sense. Is that too much to ask?
Fallon’s fear was her worst enemy yet again. Because of it, she made the same mistakes from the past. All Adam had to do was plant a small seed of doubt for Fallon to make it grow into a full-blown dose of paranoia. Liam gave her the chance to foster their relationship and work on his memories, but she pried yet again and tried to push the situation. Fallon is a Type-A control freak, which is something we love about her, but in these types of situations, she keeps repeating the same mistakes because she doesn’t learn from them. She could’ve avoided this entire mess with Landon and the Liam fight had she left him alone as he wished.
The same goes for her plot with Landon. It was clear from their first interaction at the club that Landon wasn’t interested in the job. He made every indication of blowing Fallon off or subtly hinting that he wasn’t interested, but Fallon wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. Again. She’s lucky that he didn’t sue or press charges after the gun’s misfire! Landon seems like a petty man and he would’ve gotten revenge had she not been dating Liam. Fallon needs to start taking her career more seriously if she wants to make Fallon Unlimited a legitimate and successful company.
Sam also nearly blew up any chances with his career because of his stubborn attitude. What was he thinking?! If someone hands you a lifeline to fix your mess, take it! If his charitable initiative with donating the food hadn’t worked, Sam’s own ego would’ve been his downfall. “Shoot From the Hip” continued another week of Sam’s inability to learn from his mistakes and focus on the real matter at hand. He’s been giving a second chance now – both with the hotel and in dating with the PR guy – he needs to be practical and not ruin it by clouding his judgment! Losing Anders is a huge blow for him getting the consistent reason in his life, so he’ll need to be smarter from here on out.
Vanessa, on the other hand, made a majorly dumb move with her career. Why did she tell Monica the truth of her relationship with Dominique? Chances are the truth will hurt her more than help her. She should’ve waited until she signed her contract with Monica first before telling her about Dominique’s past. Vanessa acted like a spoiled child who was mad at her mother because she didn’t get her way instead of being a mature adult who could set their feelings aside. Culhane might be a gorgeous man, but her new fling didn’t outweigh her career goals.
Dominique also gave up huge leverage for something that wasn’t worth the cost. If the choice was between dirt on Culhane or continued payments from Blake, you absolutely take the money! Money is more quantifiable and could help Dominique in life if anything bad were to happen. Instead, she gave that security and leverage away because she wanted to remove her step-daughter’s new fling? Such a bad deal. Even if she blackmailed Culhane, that wouldn’t have stopped him from telling Monica. I expected Dominique to make a better call than this.
Adam once again played his hand to get Cristal out of the way. Can’t any of the Carringtons ever play in the same sandbox together? Apparently not and it was tedious having to retread plot. Once Adam asked Cristal to help bake the pie, you knew that he was up to something nefarious. This is Adam, after all and he always has a plan in the works. However, seeing him and Cristal turn things around during the dinner was a great development. If Adam could only stop acting like a cartoon villain, he could finally build real relationships with his family instead of pushing everyone away. He has it in him to make true peace with Cristal. Instead, we have another enemy cemented in this war.
The twist of Nadia secretly working for Fallon blew me away! Dynasty pulled the wool over my eyes – I did not see this coming at all. In hindsight, the scheme made a lot of sense. When Nadia first arrived, she warmed up to Adam quickly and became his little puppet, agreeing to do any deception he needed. Their romance blossomed quickly, too. I thought Adam was manipulating Nadia, but in actuality, it was Fallon controlling the entire scheme like a puppet master. Bravo, Dynasty! This twist might be one of the best jaw-dropping moments yet.

“Shoot From the Hip” repaired some of the damage made by the characters, but it also imploded a few plots that had been blossoming. Vanessa might have ruined her career, there’s no way Nadia is continuing her romance with Adam after the scheme is done, and Dominique needs to find a new benefactor. We’ll have to wait and see how the characters pick up the pieces from the latest truthbombs. Hopefully, the group learns from their errors before the next time hits.
