TV Review: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Winter/Spring Season

Last week, Pretty Little Liars wrapped up their Winter/Spring season with their Spring Finale. I’m a huge PLL fan, but to be totally honest, this season did not meet my expectations. I feel like the show is now coming to the point where they’re just adding more confusing events and characters to keep the show going, but in all honesty, where is the show going? Are we going to find out who killed Ali? Are we going to find out who is sending the creepy texts to the girls?

*Spoiler Alert*

This season, I kept saying to myself, is this a joke? Spencer and Toby break up because Spencer finds out that Toby is part of “A”, then she sees a dead body with Toby’s tattoo, so we assumed that Toby died, and then apparently Toby is alive; all very confusing, all unnecessary sequence of events. Toby claims that he is part of A because he wanted to protect Spencer, but let’s be honest here, we know he’s lying. Then Mona tries to act all innocent, when last season she almost killed Hanna. Now, Aria and Ezra are done because she can’t tolerate that Ezra has a son.

Too much went on in order for the viewers to keep track of what was going on. Half of the time, I didn’t even know who the new characters were. In one episode, Emily met two swimmers, Olympic swimmer, Missy Franklin, and then some other girl who we continue to see as the season went on. I never knew that girl’s name or her story; it was just so random to shove her into the show.

I feel bad that I didn’t love the season, since I usually obsess over it. But, I feel like the producers, writers and directors keep the suspense going by adding in more unnecessary events throughout the seasons to keep the show moving, but when will the viewers find out all of the secrets? Will we never find out who “A” is? In all honesty, that’s the main reason why I watch the show; I’m sure that’s the main reason why everyone watches the show. If we never find out who “A” is, then what’s the point?

Pretty Little Liars goes back on the air June 11th, and I’m looking for something stellar. I want the summer season to blow me away and clarify all the questions that I have. I feel invested in this show because I’ve watched it for so many years; I can’t give up and stop watching it now.

Remember, Pretty Little Liars has its Summer Premiere on June 11th at 8PM EST on ABC Family. Secrets may be revealed, and you won’t want to miss it!
