Film Review: ‘Bad Teacher’ starring Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake & Jason Segel

Gaby’s thoughts: When I first saw the trailer for Bad Teacher, I was just like “Seriously? What is this?” It immediately looked like something that wasn’t worth my time. But after a while, it started to grow on me. While I’m sort of indifferent towards Cameron Diaz, I really do like Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel. So I decided to give it a chance.

…And I liked it! Is it my favorite movie ever? No. In fact, I don’t have any desire to see it again. However, I did have a fun time watching it. There were some funny moments; the entire movie isn’t completely laugh-out-loud funny though. Segel is just too adorable. Timberlake’s character is a bit weirdly funny, and Justin pulls it off well.

I definitely consider this movie rent-worthy. If you don’t want to see it in theaters, you should totally consider renting it once it’s on DVD. If you love Diaz, Timberlake, and/or Segel, I suggest you see it in theaters. Again, don’t expect some kind of epic comedy (like The Hangover), but Bad Teacher is pretty decent.

Lucy’s thoughts: I thought this movie was the type that you see the trailer, you laugh while watching it, but the moment you sit down at the theater the movie just becomes dull and the only funny parts are the ones from the trailer. I was fooled! Bad Teacher was actually funny, I was glad it was rather short (98 mins) and kept the laughs coming, unlike other comedies that are like 120 to 130 mins and there are scenes that just get boring. I thought the movie had a good pace and it was worth my time. I wasn’t expecting some kind of funny like the 1st Hangover or anything, my expectations were rather low and I was impressed that the movie wasn’t as bad as others I went to see before thinking they were going to be hilarious and turned out to be the biggest waste of my time… I’m looking at you Hall Pass.

Bad Teacher is in theaters now.
