Here we are again. Another Monday. Another episode of Under the Dome that reveals minimum answers.
Just a short recap of what happened last week: Big Jim leads a movement for the townspeople to relinquish all their weapons. He also manages to save one of his old pals from nearly blowing himself to pieces with a grenade. Max, the woman Barbie apparently works for and who’s done business with Big Jim, appears to be also one of the Dome’s victims. Worse yet, she’s got just as much big plans as Big Jim. And last but certainly not least, Angie has a very own seizure of her own and is welcomed into Norrie and Joe’s “Pink Stars Falling” Group. Even more disturbing is that the mini dome apparently didn’t want to be seen by Julia and had Joe take it to the barn near his house. To add to all that paranormal activity, the dome seems to turn blue when Joe, Norrie and Angie touch it (since they’ve all had the seizures, I guess) but like some sort of lock, there seemed to be a fourth hand missing to fully unlock whatever the mini dome is hiding.
In this week’s episode of Under the Dome, Angie, Norrie and Joe go looking for the fourth hand while taking notice that there is a caterpillar inside the mini dome. They all realize that this is what illusion Joe had meant when he said “the monarch will be crowned”. It had literally meant a butterfly.
Meanwhile Barbie and Big Jim are under the control of the 
And that’s exactly what he set out to do when he paid a visit to a woman he had suspicions about. It just so happened that she turned out to be Max’s mother but by the time Big Jim found this out she had him at gun point. But being Big Jim he was able to disarm her easily and took her out on a boat for reasons known only to him. Scared like a deer in someone’s headlights, Max’s mother asks what Big Jim intends to do with her. All he responds is that nature had a way of deciding the outcome of things. With even more fear building up over that statement and the nonchalant way he said it, she becomes frantic and starts to get up and argue with Big Jim. In all her antics, she falls overboard and cries out for Big Jim to help her since her hands are still tied together. Big Jim considers helping her back on board but decides that nature truly did choose what to do and left her out in the body of water.

On the other side of this insane town, Angie remembers that Junior once told her that his mother drew a painting of pink stars falling and that when they were younger, he had a seizure too. She also reveals to Norrie and Joe what he’d done to her (you know, locking her up in the fallout shelter and all). Joe gets riled up and they all go looking for Junior while agreeing to keep things on a down low about the mini dome.
On another note, Julia and Linda look more into what Duke had been trying to hide and who exactly he met outside a factory. Linda finds a key in the hat that Duke never separated with for too long and Julia recognizes it to be a safety deposit key. They head to the Bank of Chester’s Mill to some more investigating.
Back in the world of blackmailing, Max introduces Barbie to the underground fighting arena she’s created that will ensure her a safe and dependable income while she stays under the dome. People line up with certain food items and fight to win the prize of more food than they brought in. Max coerces Barbie to fight a match since it’ll stir up the crowd a bit. Barbie is hesitant but she threatens him with telling Julia the truth about her husband. And, ofcourse, Barbie complies.
In the meantime, Junior does a little patrolling and spots a guy looking all suspicious and decides to tail him when he starts to run. Being who he is, when he catches the guy, he pins him to the hood of the police car. The guy continuously shouts that he’s innocent but Junior isn’t buying it and digs in the man’s bag for some sort of evidence. The only thing he discovers is that the guy was carrying a tin of salt to go to the underground fighting match. Junior decides to give the arena a check out. The guard at the door to the arena recognizes Junior and denies him access on account of him now being an honorary cop. When Junior tries to push pass the heavy set guard, he’s punched in the face so hard he falls to the ground.

When Julia and Linda go through Duke’s safety deposit box, they discover a letter Duke wrote and a Sheriff pin that Linda gave Duke when she was younger and he had his pacemaker installed. The letter explained that Duke made some sort of deal with Max to harbor masses of propane and overlook her schemes if she kept drugs out of Chester’s Mill. Apparently, Duke’s son had been a drug addict and Duke believed that he only did what he thought was best to protect Chester’s Mills residents from the same fate. The letter also happened to mention Big Jim’s name too. While they’re still in the safety deposit room, Julia decides to take a look through her husband’s box and finds a life insurance paper with a hefty amount of money invested in her husband’s name.
Meanwhile, Barbie fights it out with a man that Max had once sent him to collect money from and purposely lost so that Max wouldn’t have the upper-hand and would lose the bets she made on him. Unfortunately (for Barbie), she predicted his betrayal and bet against him. This is when Barbie decides he’s had enough. Blackmail or no blackmail, he was sick of Max.
Barbie heads back to Julia’s place and she’s already waiting for him. He decides that he’ll just come clean about killing Julia’s husband but to his dismay, Julia says she already knows everything by just putting together the most obvious clues. The missing gun her husband supposedly took with no bullets in it. Barbie meeting him at the shack. The job Barbie does for a living. And lastly, the life insurance paper. Weird enough, instead of telling him to get the hell out of her house, she says that Barbie can’t keep stuff like this from her in the future. His expression at that statement was the same as mine. This guy had just killed her husband and all she had to say to that was “don’t hide things from me again?” Wow. She is so trusting. Or probably decided that Barbie was good looking enough and it was time to trade up.

To end it all, Norrie takes the gang to where Junior showed her his mother’s paintings so it would convince them that Junior was indeed the last remaining key in unraveling whatever the mini dome was hiding.
In true psycho manner, he just appears out of nowhere and is outraged that Angie would even think that it was okay to show people something so sacred to him. Joe (who is still upset about Junior locking his sister in the fallout shelter) tries to fight Junior but Junior holds him in a tight headlock until Angie gets hysterical and screams for him to let him go. When he does, she explains his significance in helping to discover whatever secrets the mini dome is hiding and he actually complies to helping them – I’m convinced it was all for Angie anyhow.
But you see, the funny thing about the mini dome is that it doesn’t allow just anyone to touch it and even burnt Dodee’s hand when she tried found it in the barn and tried to touch it. When they are all about to place their hands on the mini dome, they notice that the caterpillar has gone into a cocoon. As they all place their hands on the mini dome, it lights up and shows them a hologram of pink stars. And somehow, only Junior is the one who wonders what it all means.
A lot really happened in this episode, right? But seriously, what is up with the butterfly? What does it have to do with the dome? And doesn’t this whole “we are the key to the mini dome” thing remind you a little of Secret Circle? Definitely can’t wait to see what new discovery and challenges Chester’s Mills comes across next!
