I thought this episode was dragging on and began way too slow. But as it finished, this episode provided some beautiful moments. Maybe I’m emotional, but this episode made me cry. It showcased such human valor and bravery that I am happy that the CW is stepping out of its typical teen show scenarios and approaching these tough ethical debates with The 100. More on that later.
They thought it was a shooting star, but no it was Raven landing on Earth as she unknowingly broke apart what had just begun between Clarke and Finn. One minute they were cozy together in bed, the next Raven is all over Finn as she almost died trying to come and see if he was alive on Earth. Finn never even mentioned her.
Clarke isn’t the type of girl to make a scene. She simply accepts what happened and understands that Finn thought he was never going to see her again. Every wall that Clarke was trying to bring down has immediately sprung up once again. Sad to see because relaxed Clarke is a lot more enjoyable than the indestructible Clarke act that she puts on.
However, Bellamy unfortunately got to the Raven’s pod before Finn and Clarke and ripped off the radio that would communicate them to the ark. Octavia had it right when she didn’t called him out not as a protective brother but just a selfish douche. (This coming from his own baby sister.) She proved him right once again when he let her run off by herself into the woods. I bet he’ll be feeling guilty in next week’s episode.

Guilt suddenly is a feeling that has been encountering Bellamy often. After Clarke makes him understand that his selfish action of ripping out the radio means 300 people die on the ark, it’s hitting him that he needs to start thinking about his actions before being so reckless.
On the ark things are only getting worse, and I do not envy any of the positions on the council.

They need to cut off a whole of the ark in order to survive. Chancellor Jaha is looking hopeless by the minute, and Dr. Griffin simply can’t stand still without trying to do something. After all, she’s the one who has to attend a 9-year-old girl who is going blind due to oxygen deficiency. In no way is that easy.
So, she decides to publish her dead husband’s message and tells the people of the ark exactly what is going on. Surprisingly, it truly brings out the best in people, just like Jake Griffin had said it would. They begin to come in and volunteer to be part of section 117 which will be turning off their oxygen. The first volunteer is the father of the 9 year old girl patient, who is going blind.
This was such a moving moment because it allowed the show to break off from the typical teenage problems and displayed real choices that are tough to make. It showcased humanity’s core and love for each other as these volunteers made the ultimate sacrifice for their loved ones.

It was truly beautiful. Or I was just really emotional. I’d say a little bit of both.
I think this week really showcased the complexity and depth of the adult characters on the ark. Chancellor Jaha was going to sacrifice his life on section 117 along with those 300 until Kane convinced him that he’s the leader that the ark needs right now more than ever. I always believed that Kane just wanted to become Chancellor, but when given the chance, he did what was right and not what his ambition dictated. That showed a different side of him; he has a heart for the people too and he knows that his cold logistics aren’t what the ark needs to survive.
Meanwhile down on Earth, they’re doing whatever possible to let the ark know that they’re alive. All they need is to send them a signal even if they can’t communicate and have a conversation with them via radio. Raven orchestrates an idea which will launch a sort of sky rocket firework into the atmosphere that hopefully the ark will see.
I was crossing my fingers the whole time hoping that they would be able to launch them in time to save the 300 noble souls that gave their life. But no, that would be way too perfect.
Regardless, Chancellor Jaha and Dr. Griffin get to see them through her prison cell window. Maybe it’s too late for those 300, but it sure does ignite hope and drive to save the rest of those that are left.
With everyone so busy with what’s been going on after Raven’s arrival, they all forget about where Octavia is. She falls down in the woods and awakens with her face covered in blood. She looks up, and what does she see? A huge grounder just looking at her straight in the eyes. Oh yeah, it’s gonna get interesting next week.
