Murphy made a remarkable return to camp. He was found right outside the grounds, looking just as beat up as when he was banished.
It turns out that he was captured by the grounders and brutally tortured. They ripped all of his nails off, and that was just one thing they did. So, the grounders can’t really complain about what was done to Lincoln; they’re pretty bad themselves. Murphy obviously gave the grounders the complete 411 on The 100 camp. Clarke decides to keep Murphy to try to get useful information about the grounders despite Bellamy’s disapproval.
At the end of the day it seems to be true, Clarke is the ultimate leader.
What they weren’t counting on was that the grounders released Murphy as a strategic move. They have infected him with a virus, and as he was brought into the campgrounds, it’s infecting almost everyone. Some of have even died, as their immune systems weren’t strong enough.
This virus is not cute. It makes them projectile blood, bleed from their eyes and from their noses. They also get as pale as a sheet of paper. The grounders are tricky; they may not have guns, but they just engaged biological warfare. This is an interesting aspect that The 100 took on as we can relate to it in our world right now. Remember the Anthrax scare?
Clarke instates a quarantine, but it seems it’s not working out very well. Thankfully, some are immune to this virus such as Octavia and Finn. Clarke sends Octavia to meet up with Lincoln to try to get the cure for this. Unfortunately, there is none—the virus doesn’t last long if you’re strong enough to endure it. Lincoln also warns Octavia that his people will be attacking at first light. He’s leaving as his people are treating him like a traitor because of his love for Octavia. Octavia said she would go, but you can see she is torn with leaving her people too.

With the warning of the attack, The 100 have to figure out how to make the best move to at least delay it. Murphy comes in handy when he speaks of the bridge he had to cross from the grounders’ village. This is the same bridge where Clarke and Anya met to try to make a peace treaty.
Finn comes up with the brilliant idea of bombing the bridge, which will delay the grounders’ arrival. Raven came so in handy this episode and truly showed maturity. Finally! She creates a bomb out of this explosive liquid that was found on the exodus ship that crashed. It appears to be that where the exodus ship crashed there is nothing but debris and limbs. Which is devastating for Clarke as her mother was on the ship. We don’t learn much about what happened, but as of right now, it seems as if there was no survivors. Clarke hasn’t had a moment to grieve as she’s trying to survive this deadly virus and still lead The 100.
The bombs needs to be planted on the bridge and shot from at least 200 feet in order for it to explode and not be torn to pieces. Bellamy has fallen ill, so Finn hesitated but ultimately volunteered. Noticing the hesitation, Raven takes the bomb alone to plant it herself, even willing to sacrifice her own life.

Unfortunately while on the way to the bridge, the virus starts manifesting in her body with blood dripping from her nose, her body becoming weak and her vision become quite blurred. Vision is quite important when you need to hit a target in order to save all of your people.
Fortunately, Finn had noticed that Raven had escaped and had brought Jasper along to be the shooter. They arrive at the bridge in time as they hear the grounders’ war drums in the distance. Those war drums could instill panic and fear into you. I think these scenes were my favorite as they really built up suspense. I was gripping onto my comforter for dear life during all these scenes. The way the grounders were shot galloping through the forest was almost majestic to watch. They were so well shot!
Jasper tends to buckle under pressure and misses while running out of bullets. The grounders are getting closer to the bridge and have heard the gunshots that have alerted them. Jasper is lucky to have Monty as an unconditional friend, and the dynamic (literally) duo is able to hit the target just in time. BOOM! The bridge blows up causing a gigantic mushroom cloud that can be seen from the campgrounds.

Finn was able to get Raven off the bridge safely. They’re all heroes as they make it back to camp.
Raven is looking like death and as Finn takes her to the quarantined section she finally makes the brave move we all were waiting for. She finally accepts that though they care deeply for each other, Finn doesn’t love her the same way anymore.
More importantly, Raven says that Finn doesn’t love her the way she wants to be loved. This just made Raven become acceptable in my eyes again as she’s finally decided that her self-respect was more important than holding on to an uninterested man. It was evident it killed her to do it which made her more admirable in my eyes.
Another couple falls apart as Octavia runs to see Lincoln. As he’s preparing his things to leave across the sea where another tribe will take him in, Octavia tells him she can’t go with him. She must stay with her people, and though it kills her, she holds on to the loyalty she has for her Bellamy, who’s still sick from the virus. Octavia is definitely one of my favorites as she’s constant in her character’s strength. Their kiss goodbye though simply just one on the cheek was such a nice scene. Lincoln mentions that after the bomb’s explosion, the mountain men will be furious and are sure to attack. It’s apparent that even the grounders fear the mountain men, which leaves a lot to think about how crazy, terrible they must be. Yikes!
Murphy kills Connor in his sleep, which confirms our suspicions that he truly hasn’t let things be “bygones.” Bellamy has zero trust in him and has his eyes on him, which hopefully will be able to stop Murphy from making any other deadly moves. We aren’t really sure what his plans could be nor what side he’s truly on.
Next week, Anya will make Clarke heal one of the wounded from the bridge bomb. I’m excited to get more interaction with Anya.
The ark was absent in this episode. so hopefully next week we get to see how they’re holding up as well as more details on the exodus ship explosion.
