Book Review: Just One Night (Just One Day #2.5) by Gayle Forman

_Just_One_Night

After spending one life-changing day in Paris with laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter, sheltered American good girl Allyson “Lulu” Healey discovered her new lover had disappeared without a trace. Just One Day followed Allyson’s quest to reunite with Willem; Just One Year chronicled the pair’s year apart from Willem’s perspective. Now, back together at last, this delectable e-novella reveals the couple’s final chapter.

Last week I shared my excitement for this final chapter of Willem and Allyson’ s story. Now that I’ve finally read it… *big breath* I’m not sure where to start.

Author Gayle Forman mentioned the grief she gets from readers about how she ended Just One Year. Frankly, I liked that ending because it captured these two characters right at a new and wonderful beginning. My fantasies and thoughts of how they will continue to live their lives invaded my mind for days. However, I was still excited for Just One Night to see how Forman wraps up their story.

Forman does Willem and Allyson justice. She gives them an emotional, sexy, and romantic ending that will leave you breathless and your heart full. The appearance of the supporting characters help cement the kind of people Allyson and Willem have become and make them discover that in each other. It’s all so touching.

My only regret is that, unlike Just One Year, Just One Night, left me wanting more. I need some Allyson and Willem American Adventures. I want to read about how they progress as couple. Mainly, I want to see what this big “accident” ends up being in the long run.  I hope Forman decides to revisit these two again later in their lives and give us just one more book.
