Concert Review: Native Summer Tour with One Republic Ft. The Script

The blissful summer night provided the perfect atmosphere for the Native Summer Tour. We kicked off the Native Summer tour in Irvine on June 3rd, 2014 with the new band American Authors. They played music you could really get into and hit the nail on the head when they played Best Day of My Life because the concert was a heck of a way to kick off my summertime music madness. American Authors played for a while and everybody in the crowd was really getting hyped up for the main event while still enjoying what was on. Sometimes an opening band dulls the performance and it just prolongs the wait time to see the featured band but American Authors was able to get everyone to enjoy the moment rather then just sit around and wait.

After the opening band we were able to rock to The Script an amazing alternative rock band that got our sensations going with their amazing songs like Breakeven and Hall of Fame. I had lawn seats but the Verizon Wireless Amptheater was a more intimate stage therefore the music didn’t falter because we were sitting further away. If anything the music felt amplified with the natural surroundings. The crowd went wild for The Script and we all sang along to their hit songs while lighting our phones in the air to introduce One Republic!

Some bands have this innate ability to bring you into the rhythm of rock and roll by the music and notes that ooze out of their souls and off of their instruments. I got to experience a goosebump infusing guitar solo, breathtaking novel twists to songs fans have grown to love, and a tantalizing rendition of what a wonderful world by Louis Armstrong. One Republic was on the top of their game last night. They started off with Secrets then played some of their older songs that the crowd knew well enough to Karoke too. Every time the band needed a break instead of stopping the show we got to watch some incredible drum, guitar, and cello solo’s! I don’t know which I was looking forward to more by the intermission part of the show. The crowd started to leave after One Republic sang their Number One Single Counting Stars but the people that left missed the best part of the show. After they sang Counting Stars they it was like a whole new show maybe the placement of the song wasn’t the best but I liked being able to see apart of the show that many missed.

The Native Summer Tour was a great way to kick off Summer Music festivals. The combination of American Authors, The Script, and One Republic couldn’t have meshed together any better. This was the perfect combination of Alternative Rock bands of 2014 that I could have asked for. The stage, the lights, the audience, the one-of-a-kind music played was nothing I could ever hear on the radio but their new music video Love Runs out, at Love Runs Out is a good expression of how I felt throughout the concert.
