It’s time to start the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to meet the Muppets on The Muppet show tonight! The Muppets are back and better than ever in their new film, simply titled The Muppets!

It’s been a long while since the last Muppets movie, and their star power has definitely faded. This new movie takes that into account. The story follows a Muppet named Walter and his brother, Gary (Jason Segel). Walter has always been obsessed with The Muppets, and when Gary and his girlfriend, Mary (Amy Adams) decide to take a trip to Hollywood, Walter is invited along. After taking a tour of the old & abandoned Muppets Studio, Walter accidentally finds out that rich oil man Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) is deceiving the Muppets. Richman wants to buy out the Muppets Studio, but tells them that he’ll turn it into a museum. However, his true intentions are to tear it down. In order to stop this from happening, Walter, Gary and Mary go warn Kermit, and together they round up the old Muppets gang to raise enough money to get their studio back.

I loved this movie so much and for so many reasons. As a kid, I was a Muppets fan, and I’m so happy to see them back on the big screen, being as charming as ever. Jason Segal co-wrote the script for The Muppets with Nicholas Stoller, and it is a fabulous script and story that they concocted. The dialogue was very clever and funny. No movie has made me laugh this much in years. It’s so consistently funny and witty. They were very aware that they were in a movie; that helped the audience become so engaged with the film. All the film references and jokes were so smart and perfect.

Another thing they did right was staying very true to the characters and story. The Muppets are funny, but they’re also heart-warming as well. This movie captures the heart of the audience through happiness and laughter. When it got toward end of the film, I was emotional and touched by the love and familial strength that the Muppets had. It’s honestly something that would make Jim Henson proud.

Besides the dialogue, the celebrity cameos are hysterical. Some of them were so unexpected and great. I hate when celebrity cameos start to take over a movie. In this case, it didn’t. They got the right kind and type of celebrities to take part. It wasn’t overwhelming, and they didn’t steal the show from the Muppets. I won’t list the cameos because they are so much more entertaining as a surprise.

The musical performances were excellent. I went to see the movie with a friend who despises musicals, and during each number, he was laughing and flat-out enjoying it. The songs were well-written and performed. It reminded the audience why the Muppets are legends. They are some of the best variety performers ever. Jason Segel and Amy Adams were great as well. There is literally not one thing I didn’t like about this film.

Both adults and children will love The Muppets. It’s a perfect film for everybody! I’m so happy that Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear, and the rest of the gang just made the best and biggest comeback of the year. Truly, this is a must-see movie. Go see what’s getting started on the most sensational inspirational celebrational Muppetational that we call the Muppet Show!
