The first thing I noticed about “Morning Glory” is the great cast. Harrison Ford, Diane Keaton, and Rachel McAdams are all well-loved actors in Hollywood. I wish I can say that I loved ‘Morning Glory.” It was good; cute. But not great or as stand-out as its cast.
All actors give decent performances. The story is about new producer, Becky (played by McAdams) and how she tries to revive a lackluster morning show, “Day Break.” Diane Keaton plays the female personality of Day Break. In order to achieve higher ratings, Becky brings in Mike Pomeroy, a veteran and serious news anchor. Harrison Ford plays Pomeroy a little too seriously, in my opinion. Whether intentional or not, it gets a little funny at some points. Patrick Wilson and Jeff Goldblum also star.
“Morning Glory” doesn’t give you anything more but besides a cliché look at morning television. It stays sort of entertaining throughout, but it still gets a little dull at parts. Thankfully, McAdams is charming and lights up the screen with her exuberant personality. You’ll get some laughs and smiles. Is it worth your buck? Sort of. If you are fan of Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford, or Diane Keaton, you should make the trek to the theater. Otherwise, wait to rent this flick.
