“The Ghost In Love” by Jonathan Carroll

If you’re thinking this is some sort of supernatural story about a ghost actually developing a romance with a human, you’re wrong.

“The Ghost In Love” is a book about why things  happen to us, why coincidences exist and why we are the ones who decide our fate, the responsibility of our future is in our hands. Jonathan Carroll is an amazing author who touches aspects of both life and death in this book and reminds you to fall in love with your life.

While reading this book, there were moments where I would drift off day dreaming thinking about why events happened in my life, what was their purpose? Carroll tells us a story about Ben Gould. He was supposed to die in an accident, and he didn’t. A ghost was sent after his soul, but since he survived, the ghost didn’t know what to do. Go back to heaven  and wait for another soul? Apparently there was a virus in heaven’s system, so the ghost opted to stay with Ben. Over time she (yup, a girl, the ghost’s name is Ling) fell in love with Ben’s ex-girlfriend, German Landis. The ghost would cook, clean, etc anything for German, but of course since she was invisible German couldn’t even notice anything. Someone who noticed the ghost’s efforts, was Ben and German’s talking dog, Pilot. Throughout the story we get to know him and why he came into their lives in the first place, because when we first start the book the only thing keeping Ben & German together is no other than Pilot. The reason why Ben and German broke up is because Ben was acting strange. Strange as in: since he didn’t die when he had to, he’s know seeing and feeling everything that Danielle Voyle, another person who didn’t die, is doing. Things get even more strange when Ben has the ability to actually see and talk to the ghost, go back in time, relive some moments of his life, etc. “The Ghost in Love” is like a roller coaster ride definitely. The ending, I have no words, this book surely gives you that feeling you get when you read a good book, and then everything starts playing over in your head? Yeah. That kind of feeling. I am definitely reading it again soon.

This book had me thinking about past, present and future. I found myself thinking about different events in my life and the reason behind them and why people come and go in your life.

If you’re down to read something that will make you look back into your life with a little bit of fantasy, then this book is for you.
