Book Review: ‘The Hunger But Mainly Death Games’ A Parody

Merely a week away from The Hunger Games movie release, I thought this was the perfect time to post my review of this hilarious Hunger Games parody titled “The Hunger But Mainly Death Games” written by Katniss Everdeen Bratniss Everclean.

When it comes to books, especially dystopian literature or an alternate universe, there are many things that authors must take into account, from the title to the characters names, events, etc. As some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of The Hunger Games, and like many fans always wondered why was it called ‘The Hunger Games‘ if in reality none of the tributes happens to die of starvation? Not to my knowledge anyway. Or for example, why is it on every book with a lead female character, things such as female hygiene are never mentioned in the book? Here’s where ‘The Hunger But Mainly Death Games’ comes around and makes you laugh about every single thing about the book many fans love.

Without being offensive to the original characters or the story, ‘The Hunger But Mainly Death Games’ is laugh out loud funny. If you’re like me, and always keep yourself up to date with the latest happenings in pop culture, there is no reason why you wouldn’t laugh when citizens of District sorry Slum 12 dance to that what some call the song of this generation, Party Rock Anthem. On the other hand, you know how Peeta is supposed to be in love with Katniss since forever? Well, Pita here loves Bratniss and is a full-on creeper. Haymitch is another character that made me laugh a lot, in the parody named Hagridmitch, go figure why Harry Potter fans, and throughout the book he never gets the characters right and thinks that he’s back at Hogwarts. Even making jokes about Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight and making Cinna overly flamboyant, ‘The Hunger But Mainly Death Games‘ is a light read that all Hunger Games fan should read!

Last but not least, this book is made for fans like me, that love this series and characters so much, that reading a book about someone making fun of the universe that Suzanne Collins created with a dash of sarcasm and pop culture, is a thoroughly enjoyable read. After all, you know that they really are death games.

The Hunger But Mainly Death Games‘ ebook  is only $0.99! To all of the fans who will be doing lines at the movie theater before midnight release this is THE perfect book to take with  you while you wait!

A special thank you goes to the author of the book for providing me with a copy :)
