TV Review: <i>Stitchers</i> – “The Two Deaths of Jamie B”

Stitchers did not hold back this week when it came to relationships being tested between some of our favorite couples. This show is only getting started and it’s only getting better which each new episode.

This week’s mystery revolved around a man found in a garbage bin with his fingers burned off. At first the team suspects that he was part of something sketchy which is why his killer burned his fingers so his prints couldn’t get picked up. But Kirsten stitches into his mind she sees what a sweet person he was. He worked at a supermarket and came off as nothing but kind and innocent. It’s his death that makes even less sense, at first he is punched repeatedly only to then drown.

Another stitching session reveals that Jamie was also a scientist who had something that others wanted. He was cornered so he jumped into the ocean and suffered brain damage when he almost died. This explains why these two different versions popped up and why he couldn’t understand what his killer wanted from him.

Kirsten convinces one of the doctors that worked with Jamie that she knows the code, which she will give her in exchange for something. She sets up a meeting and the exchange is supposed to happen in some alley but instead Kirsten is driven to a second location. There she sees Jamie B is a hostage too, and after giving up the code she is told they can’t leave until they see the nanobots in action. Now I am not always familiar with scientific terms and concepts so I can’t explain that aspect of this week’s plot but rest assured, it was awesome. The nanobots took down the bad guys but kept Kirsten safe so she could escape.

Linus rooming with Cameron was something I wanted without really knowing it. At least I thought I did; but things got a little frustrating when Kirsten and Cameron almost kissed only to have Linus walk in on them. This led to a little disagreement between the new roommates because Linus doesn’t think Kirsten is interested since the couple isn’t actually a couple. Cameron on the other hand is pretty confident that there is hope for Camsten (as he should). But this fight leads Cameron to a comic book store where he meets a pretty cool girl. She knows her comic trivia and isn’t afraid to ask Cameron out. It looks like he took Linus’ words to heart and shifted his options to someone who wasn’t confusing him as much.

Kirsten and Cameron may have had a heart to heart last week, but it seems like the conversation is still weighing on them both. Cameron is doubting how much interest Kirsten might have in him which is where a new potential love interest comes in to show him what it’s like when someone likes you very clearly. Kirsten on the other hand goes to Fisher and asks about his ex wife. She wants to figure out more about love, an attempt to see if what she feels for Cameron is real and where to go from there.

Fisher and Cameron have a nice little stakeout date where he tells Cameron that some people are better off as friends. What is it with the Stitchers team tonight? They are all not feeling Cameron and Kirsten this week which isn’t very cool of them.

But this week was good for Linus and Camille! Camille managed not only to get all of Linus’s stuff back from Theo, but they slept together again. This has me hoping that Linus/Camille turn out to be the stable couple that doesn’t have drama every week. A little piece of drama that I can’t not mention is Camille’s unexpected revelation that she is bisexual. She didn’t say the words but she implied that she was in a relationship with a woman before and that had to be the best moment of the entire episode.

I cannot rave enough about Fisher’s addition to the team. Not only is he cheering on Camille and encouraging her to take on more self defense classes. He is also taking time out to give love advice and to just look good while solving crime. He fits seamlessly into the team and the show and I can’t wait to see what happens with him later on in the season.

Now we have to talk about that Cameron/Kirsten scene where she tells him that it isn’t fair to keep him waiting. Cameron asks if its because she only sees him as a friend, even invading her space a little to see how she reacts. While breathless Kirsten admits that he is her best friend and she doesn’t want to make it awkward. It looks like while Kirsten tries to make sure she never loses Cameron, she runs the risk of losing him as someone she hadn’t even had yet: a boyfriend. Cameron goes home with a wounded heart only to have Nina show up on his doorstep with a rare comic book. Cameron is still dealing with the semi breakup that Kirsten laid out for him but still asks out Nina on a date.

It looks like it won’t be smooth sailing yet for the Camsten shippers but next week looks more than promising for those two crazy lovebirds.
