Prince 4Ever: Greatest Hits

The Purple One’s legacy is laid out in this handsome new greatest hits set, which collects most of his singles from between 1978 and 1993. Not only will this hits collection make a great stocking stuffers for music fans needing an introduction, but longtime fans will be interested in the rare single edits and the inclusion of the previously unreleased song “Moonbeam Levels”. $13.99

David Bowie: Five Years 1969-1973 and/or Who Can I Be Now?: 1974-1976

The first two in a series of career spanning sets from Bowie. These two boxes collect every album Bowie released between 1969 and 1976 as part of one of the greatest runs of classic albums in music history. Five Years, released in 2015, may be the more attractive set because it includes the most albums – including Ziggy Stardust and Hunky Dory – but this years’ Who Can I Be Now? is just as essential, and captures Bowie’s mid-70s period that was full of chameleonic changes in musical style and appearance. All of the records are presented in a solid digital remaster and both boxes include rarities, non-album tracks and more. $102 and $117

Hamilton: Original Broadway Cast Recording vinyl and CD

Don’t throw away your shot to score the cast album of one of the biggest Broadway phenomena in decades. The album includes the complete original cast – including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo and more – performing the musical’s complete song score. It’s available as both two CD and four LP sets. While the vinyl box may seem a little costly, it’s far cheaper than buying a ticket to the show (if you can even get one). $69.99 and $18.99

 

Lego Beatles Yellow Submarine set

A wonderful collaboration between Lego and the Fab Four that lived up to all the hype and perfectly capturing the whimsy of the group’s classic 1968 film. Perfect for younger fans and hardcore collectors alike. $59.99

Radiohead – A Moon Shaped Pool on vinyl

Every time Radiohead releases an album, it’s an event and release of career highlight A Moon Shaped Pool this May was no exception. The regular version of the album on vinyl costs $29, but the its the special edition that probably has the eye of the Radiohead fan in your life. That bundle, which costs $86.50, includes the 2 LP set plus 32 pages of artwork, CD and digital download copies of the album and a special two-track CD featuring their James Bond theme tune submission “Spectre” and the exclusive song “Ill Wind”.

This pick was a bit of an indulgence, specifically because I’ve always dreamed of holding my own elaborate movie nights.
