Even though it’s selfie time on this week’s episode of Sleepy Hollow, the episode starts interestingly enough with a vision of the future. Dreyfuss’ future America, which is more like a dictatorship, as him as the president dragging an enslaved and very old looking Crane forward to see his new America. Dreyfuss wakes up from this dream thinking it’s an LSD trip, I have a feeling it may take time for Dreyfuss to realize his full potential as a villain in this series.
Meanwhile, when Molly’s favorite Internet celebrity, yes an Internet celebrity, passes out in front of squealing fans snapping photos to “pictagram” (I guess they couldn’t get Instagram’s permission to become totally demotic), Crane is on the hunt to figure out the cause for the supernatural disease spreading through D.C.
The symptoms? And exploding, fiery death caused by a genie. Like “a genie in a bottle” genie, only a lot scarier.
Of course this has happened before in D.C. Fire flu is spread by language, first spread by pamphlets, but now by a more modern-day means of communication. A viral video on pictagram spreading around an ancient curse is reminiscent of The Ring‘s creepy video. Cell phone savvy Alex gets infected, which finally pushes the actors who play Alex and Jake to give some passion in their performances.
Twisting up history this week, it turns out the Samuel Wilson “Uncle Sam,” Davy Crockett, Paul Jennings and Sacajawea used to work as a team as Agency 335 and at one point conjured up a thunderstorm that saved D.C. when the infection spread. Unfortunately for Wilson, who infected himself with the disease so he could lead the others to the gene, burned up and sacrificed himself, the fate Alex finds herself following.
Crane and the gang save the day with Jake almost sacrificing himself totally for Alex. So yeah, um Alex, I don’t think you need that dating service anymore; you had a great guy right next to you all along!
Meanwhile Jenny is spending the day with Molly and teaches her a ritual that allows her to choose her path, she chooses the oracle and is given a vision of Crane in Dreyfuss’ future America. Clearly the dream that opened this week’s episode has some weight to it if one of the witnesses is dreaming about it.
Crane has a new team to fight the war on evil; it turns out that Washington assigned Crane to lead the 335 Agent team. Of course this is a heavy burden on Crane since he may be leading them all to their deaths, but after taking a selfie (not say cheese, but prunes!), he feels much better until Molly’s vision is revealed to prove Dreyfuss is a much greater enemy then we thought.

Sleepy Head Highlight: “People of Washington switch off your mobile devices! You mobile devices are now a weapon! Switch them off!” Like that was ever going to work Crane…
