One Upon a Book Club Subscription Box Review

Earlier this month, we were given the opportunity to review one of the long talked-about Once Upon a Book Club subscription boxes!

While the idea of a subscription box isn’t something new, where boxes like Owl Crate and LitKit are among some of the most notable, Once Upon a Book Club has an edge that others don’t.

On top of being one of the cutest boxes around, I mean, check out the shipment picture, for real, this subscription box specializes in pairing the book of the month with carefully selected gifts pre-packaged to be opened according to chapters and pages.

For those of you who like to fully immerse yourselves in your reading endeavors rather than receiving a selection of randomized gifts to be enjoyed at your own expense, this is the box for you. It’s really a matter of taste, because I do know there are individuals who rather just get a book and a few additional goodies. Personally, I love the idea of having a book come with presents I’ll always be able to associate with the book I read.

Pictured here are the gifts given for the month of February, which I must say are packaged rather strategically so that fun suckers like myself resist the temptation to open anything before the time is right. Most boxes have a range of (what I believe) about 4 to 6 gifts, in all different shapes and sizes.

This month, there were a total of four gifts, and all were equally unique and meaningful to the story at hand. If you also count the cute little quote note card in the box, then that’s five gifts, and why wouldn’t you count it? It’s art!

The book chosen for the month was From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon, which was a wonderful read. The book is fairly new, releasing December 2016, so no worries of receiving a novel you’ve read just yet.

Like all book boxes, each month features something new and exciting, differing from the book chosen the month before. This is a great way to get yourself out of your comfort zone at least once a month.

This particular novel was a romantic historical fiction, and I am always talking about how much I want to read romantic historic fiction. Since I never actually make the time to get around for it, this was the perfect solution.

Additionally, Once Upon a Book Club is also another way to find new authors you may come to love.

This is really a win-win situation either which way you go.

If you’re out looking to purchase a monthly subscription that’ll most benefit you as an avid, or not-so avid, reader, at a solid $35, Once Upon a Book Club is certainly my go-to.

With what’s already been proven to be a broad and award winning set of novels chosen each month, and gifts to match, One Upon a Book Club is rapidly gaining popularity, already one of the most notable book club boxes after only a few months of being available.
