Due Date

Director Todd Phillips brings us another hilarious WTF comedy with “Due Date.” He also brings back Zach Galifianakis to the screen, after shooting him to comedic stardom with last year’s best comedy, “The Hangover.” Does Phillips still have the magic he welded last year? I would say yes. But I wouldn’t say that “Due Date” is better than “The Hangover.”

“Due Date” is about Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) who after an altercation with a nitwit named Ethan (Galifianakis) gets kicked off an airplane sans wallet. Desperate to get back to LA in time for his first child’s birth, he agrees to road trip with Ethan from Atlanta to LA. And what ensues is a comedic and ridiculous adventure.

As with “The Hangover,” there are a ton of instances when I yelled “Oh my God” at the most inappropriate parts. I won’t spoil you with what they are so you can remain adamantly surprised.

Jamie Foxx is only in the film for a short while. Juliette Lewis & Danny McBride also make short appearances. And Michelle Monaghan plays Peter’s very pregnant wife.

Downey and Galifianakis make a great comic pairing. “Due Date” is a very funny adventure and definitely worth your buck. It’s just not as great as “The Hangover.”

“Due Date” is in theaters now.
