It’s a bit surreal seeing Jane’s baby bump, which was on full display in tonight’s all new episode of Jane the Virgin. Maybe I didn’t notice it last week so much, but this week it hit me that she’s REALLY pregnant and having a baby. It’s all so crazy.

This week, Jane is at a crossroads. She has enjoyed her middle school teaching job and gets all adorably teary-eyed when her students tell her how great of a teacher she is. As we know, teaching isn’t Jane’s dream; writing is. When Rogelio orchestrates a TV writing internship for her at his telenovela, Jane finds it hard to refuse. So she doesn’t. She takes on teaching, waitressing, and writing for a telenovela. “This is not going to go well” pops on the screen.

Deciding which path to follow isn’t her only worry. Rafael and Xiomara’s tense relationship isn’t helping matters. Jane arranges a family dinner, prepping Rafael to say all of the right things to impress her mother. It goes well until Rafael makes the big and kind of arrogant mistake of offering to help Jane financially, so she can follow her writing dream. Xiomara takes it badly. Sure, she might be overreacting, and Rafael believes he has the right intentions, but it still wasn’t the right thing to say or offer in this kind of situation.

Even after apologizing to him, Rafael and Xiomara are still at odds. She clearly doesn’t trust that he’s not the bad boy he once was. All Rafael could do is prove her wrong. Yet, getting accidentally more involved with this Sin Rostro business might ruin that for him. After what Rose shared with him about his father possibly being Sin Rostro, Rafael follows a lead to a shady warehouse, where a man aggressively warns him to stay away. Of course, Michael is lurking not too far away and swoops in after Rafael leaves to check out the mystery man’s phone. He gets caught and knocked out.

Juggling three jobs, Jane is so burnt out that she falls asleep while driving and gets in to a minor accident. Rafael shows up at the hospital and urges Jane to make a choice and follow her dreams. Xo, who is also there, can’t help but agree with Rafael. Aw, looks like there’s hope for these two.

Michael is also at the hospital with Nadine, who he asks not to tell their boss what he was really up to. He’s no longer supposed to be tailing Rafael. After promising her that he’s not doing it because of Jane, Nadine finds out the truth when Jane stops by his room to ask him if he’s waiting for her to leave Rafael and come back to him. Without hesitation, Michael affirms that he is waiting for Jane. Nadine, upset at Michael’s betrayal, makes a call to her boss with the truth about Michael’s latest activities.

Xiomara is still fighting her vow of chastity, but she finally explains to Rogelio why she’s been pushing him away. Rogelio charmingly says he’ll wait for her. Xo eventually finds out that her mother knew about the vow and woke up from her coma before Xo had made it. Still, Xo can’t help but admit that it is nice knowing that Rogelio is willing to wait.

Petra, on the other hand, is getting a good dose of fear. Even Lachlan (Michael Rady) sees this and tries to take advantage of it. Or could he actually BE her fear? The dreaded Milos, Petra’s ex who splashed acid on her mother’s face. At the Marbella, looks can be deceiving….

Finally, Jane makes a choice. She chooses to take the internship at Rogelio’s telenovela. This is her chance to follow her dreams. She can, and she will.

Gaby’s Crazy (But it COULD happen!) Jane the Virgin Theory of the Week:

Lachlan is Milos. He does seem to be a bit possessive of Petra, which would fit in with what we know of Milos.

Rating: 7/10
