TV Show Review: True Blood Season 4 Premiere

HBO held a special advanced screening of the first two episodes of True Blood last night in Chicago. Luckily, I was invited and able to watch one of my favorite TV shows on the big screen.

The following review is rather vague because I didn’t want to write spoilers just in case someone hasn’t watched the latest episodes or is considering to start watching the TV series.

I enjoyed the last season of True Blood, and since I haven’t read the books, I was curious to see what would happen next. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting the episodes to be as good as they were. Although there was a quite a bit of setup in the first episode, it was pretty much all interesting. Advancing the plot a year was a good idea. It created new situations for the characters and added a ton of intrigue. What’s going on with so and so? Etc.

I was first put-off by the introduction of witches into the storyline. I felt like there were already too many mythical beings in this show. But after the second episode, I really liked where the writers are taking this for the most part. Everything gets turned around, and you just can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Season 4 has truly impressed me so far. I loved every minute of the first 2 episodes, and I’m pretty sure I’ll feel the same way about the rest of the season. If you haven’t given True Blood a chance yet, what are you waiting for? Don’t let Twilight or whatever deter you away from it, True Blood is a different kind of vampire story than Twilight. Trust me, give it a chance and by the time you get to Season 4, you won’t regret it. (Although, I will admit the first season is a bit slow, but it totally picks up in Season 2 and even more in Season 3.)

True Blood airs Sunday nights at 9PM EST on HBO. You can purchase True Blood Seasons 1-3 at our TYF Store!
