Upcoming Artist: Jungle

Jungle is a funky band that will make you want to get up your seat and dance with style like in their superb music videos. I’ve been enjoying Jungle for many months now but it seems they are finally getting ready to shine big. In 2013 they had their first release, a four-track EP, “The Heat”. Short and smooth, “The Heat” was one of my favorite albums last year (#2 on my personal list).

Let’s watch the video for the title track of the EP here:

With a greatly defined style, they don’t disappoint with diversions but don’t get boring because of repeating the same patterns at any moment either. All their tracks are funky-smooth-fantastic, all as a single adjective. Surrounded in mystery, their first couple of videos got more than half a million views with apparently little to no promotion, they went viral, and with videos as cool as these it’s easy to understand why. Based in London, UK, little had been known about the band until they played their first live gigs. No, they aren’t the classy-skating black men on the music video for The Heat, nor they are the little 7-year old professional breakdancer girl, B-Girl Terra, in their video for Platoon.

Jungle is an electronic soul band, recommended for fans of a similar style like Disclosure or maybe even OutKast. They are a 7-piece mix bag of talent, that on March 2014, released their third official single Busy Earnin’, which wasn’t part of “The Heat” EP, with another fantastically choreographed music video of people dancing to their stylish track.

There’s not much else to say about this highly talented group of people that prefer not to take the spotlight in their own music videos. The music itself expresses everything more than anything and more than getting into details of who they actually are. “You’ll probably be able see our faces, but there are bigger things to look at. You don’t wanna look at our ugly mugs anyway!”, said the band’s producer on an interview last year with NME.
