Karey White’s Top Ten Wedding Movies
Fiddler on the Roof – I love this movie. I love the music, the casting, the beauty and the pain. This isn’t just one of my favorite movies that includes a wedding. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time.
The Sound of Music – When I was younger, I thought Liesl and Rolf were so romantic. Now I recognize the real romance was Maria and The Captain. When he cuts in on Kurt to demonstrate the Laendler (folk dance), you can see on their faces the moment they realize their feelings for each other. No wonder the Baroness freaked out a little.
Hello Dolly – I’m noticing a theme. I clearly love musicals. The music and costuming in this movie are mind-blowing. And everyone falls in love. It’s such a fun movie.
Leap Year – I realize the wedding is brief and only at the very end, but this is such a great movie when you’re craving a little romance. And anyone who doesn’t fall in love with Declan is a little crazy, in my opinion.
Fools Rush In – I like Matthew Perry; I think he’s funny. And I really liked this movie. Not saying it’s a good idea to have a one-night stand or get pregnant before marriage. But it’s what comes after they get married that I love.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding – I’m not Greek, but I do have a huge family, and I thought this movie was charming.
27 Dresses – Always a bridesmaid. Will she ever be a bride? I’m not a big Katherine Heigl fan, but I really enjoyed this movie.
You Again – When Jamie Lee Curtis relives her cheerleading days in this movie, I about died laughing. I loved watching Kristen Bell and all her awkward moments. Funny and sweet.
Bride and Prejudice – I’m a sucker for almost anything Pride and Prejudice, and while the scene of the “Mr. Collins” character in his underwear made me squirm uncomfortably, the rest of the movie was pretty entertaining.

Father of the Bride – This was a cute movie, but the very best part of it was the scene at the wedding cake shop. I thought about that shop as I wrote my book.

Twenty-four year-old, Abby Benson has dreams of owning her own wedding cake shop. An inheritance from her aunt gives her the ability to make those dreams come true. Karey White grew up in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Missouri. She attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. Her first novel, Gifted, was a Whitney Award Finalist.
She loves to travel, read, bake treats, and spend time with family and friends. She and her husband are the parents of four great children. She teaches summer creative writing courses to young people and is currently working on her next book.
