Nick Foster’s Top 10 Video Games of 2012

1. Max Payne 3

This game was amazing and gave me an introduction to the band “Health.”

2. Tekken Tag Tournament 2

I have according to my official record online over 300 matches in Tekken. I’m obligated to put this game on the list.

3. Asura’s Wrath

This game should just be called “Epic: The Video Game.” Felt like every scene the developers were trying to outdo themselves, and I always respect that.

4. FIFA 13

I love FIFA always, even if Messi is an overpowered scoring robot in this game. (Yeah I said it.)

5. Mass Effect 3

It’s a really good game. The ending might not have been what people wanted, but if you look past the lackluster presentation, I personally think the bittersweet ending is artistically appropriate. Plus explosions!

6. Resident Evil 6

Not much to say really, just a great addition to the franchise.

7. Nights Into Dreams HD

I loved this game when I was eight, and it’s still amazing.

8. Assassin’s Creed III

The game is amazing, and for the most part, pays off, but if I have to watch one more slideshow ending to a blockbuster game franchise, I’m going to jump kick my screen.

9. Rock Band Blitz

I love this game because it shows that music games truly are done with. Amen.

10. Star Wars Kinect

What can you say about a breakdancing Lando Calrissian except ”Hello Disney!”?

Alex Hanavan’s Top 10 Video Games

1. Assassin’s Creed III

Assassin’s Creed 3 was one of the biggest action adventure games that I’ve ever played. Mix the polished stealth gameplay and refined combat of the AC franchise with the historically rich setting of the American Revolution and you can be sure that a great game emerges. Even with the numerous bugs that plague the game, AC3 is gorgeous from start to finish and it’s a pleasure to be able to interact with some of history’s most recognizable figures.

2. Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3 is one hell of an adventure. I found the story to be extremely compelling and all of the game mechanics to be very polished. One of the things I liked the most about the game is the variety of animals that you encounter when exploring the gorgeous island. The sense of scale is amazing and just like Machinima put it, the game is just like “Skyrim with guns.” The side quests and extra challenges are rewarding throughout the experience and the perk system lets you feel like you are constantly learning how to become even more of a badass. By the end of the game you really connect with the character and are yearning to see justice be served.

3. Dishonored

It takes guts to release a brand new IP towards the end of a console cycle, especially one as unique as Dishonored. Blending familiar stealth with supernatural powers and a steampunk inspired world, Dishonored gives the player an experience that is completely new and entirely entertaining. I especially loved  the challenge of learning how best to use your powers when confronted with an obstacle or challenge. There are always many different possibilities for how to overcome one specific situation.

4. Halo 4

5. Dragon’s Dogma

6. Borderlands 2

7. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

8. Sniper Elite V2

9. Need For Speed: Most Wanted

10. Dear Esther
