With Michael (Wentworth Miller) clinging to life a familiar face arrives to save the day, in tonight’s immensely entertaining episode Wine Dark Sea.
POSITIVES
Sara and Michael Reunited
With all the faults Prison Break has had in the past, one constant strength has been the relationship between Michael and Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies). Not only do Callies and Miller have tremendous chemistry on screen, but they both serve as the moral compasses of the show. So having them together again is something all Prison Break fans have been clamoring for from the moment season five began.
Now, after seven years apart, Sara re-encounters Michael again in the same way she first found him; With Michael needing her help after being wounded by Cyclops in last week’s episode.
Even the manner in which she saves Michael, a blood transfusion, pushes home the message that these two belong together. Again, maybe I am over-romanticizing this whole scene, but I just thought it was spot on.
Ja stays in Phaeacia

Of all the new characters introduced this season, Ja (Rick Yune) has been the most welcome surprise. Seeing him stay back as the rest of the team head to Greece was kind of disheartening.
SUCRE IS BACK!
If Sucre embodies anything, it’s a friend you wish you had. From the laughs to the undying support, Sucre was definitely a missing piece during this season thus far. Thankfully, in tonight’s episode, we get a healthy dose of our favorite Puerto Rican. Now with Michael, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) and Whip (Augustus Prew) needing a boat to get back to America. Sucre, who now works on a cargo ship, was able to hitch a ride for the trio. It also gave Sucre the perfect the moment to present his newest line of sex dolls or – how he likes to call them – inflatables.

NAVY SEALs Attack
When looking at Prison Break as a whole, a minor change that I feel has worked in the show’s favor is the increase in action set-pieces. In tonight’s episode, we have a thrilling one between Michael, Lincoln, Whip and Sucre and the Navy Seals who are looking to kill Kaniel Outis (Michael). The whole scenario ends with a climactic jump into the abyss for our group.
Sara Confronts Jacob
Though Jacob (Mark Feuerstein) being Poseidon was a negative for me, Sara’s reaction to it was not. Sara’s willingness to kill Jacob to save her family was not only understandable but also needed. After all she was betrayed by Jacob. I’ll even give the Jacob character credit, for his ability to perceive what Sara was going to do and turning the tables on her. Which only makes me wonder what’s going to happen next. Is Bagwell of all people going to come in and save the day? Or will Michael arrive just in time?

Poseidon’s Identity Revealed
While Michael and Sara traveled down memory lane looking at pictures of their son. Michael comes across a photo of Sara’s husband Jacob. Now, instead of reacting heartbroken over Sara’s new love, he panics as it is revealed Jacob is indeed Poseidon.
Personally, Jacob being Poseidon was just too obvious for my taste. From being shot in the leg point blank by a hit man or having Bagwell (Robert Knepper) himself taking a picture of him with the hit men in episode three, The Liar, it simply made the reveal of Jacob as the man behind the mask to not resonate as much as it could have had we not gotten these obvious clues.
Another facet revealed about Jacob being Poseidon was this idea that he did all of this to have Sara for himself. That to me simply made no real sense whatsoever. Now, one bleak positive I found in this episode regarding Jacob was the call he made to an unknown person, which makes me think there is a bigger baddie waiting to be introduced.
Michael Was Framed
Though this was something I felt would happen, there was still a part of me hoping the show would go another direction. Earlier this season we saw Agent Kellerman (Paul Adelstein) showing Sara a video of Michael killing a CIA operative. In tonight’s episode however we clearly see that it was Jacob, aka Poseidon, who killed the operative. Meaning Jacob edited the video footage making Michael look like the murderer. Thus making it a near complete rehash of how Lincoln landed in Fox River. Again not a huge deal but something you can see coming from a mile away.
Conclusion
Overall Wine Dark Sea was an episode of ebbs and flows. Whenever we had Michael and Sara on screen, the show was dynamo. Add Sucre and an amazing action sequence and you have a great episode. But that greatness was dragged down by the identity of Poseidon.
