Dark Matter 3×06 Review: “One More Card To Play”

The doppelgangers are back causing problems for the crew. What makes them interesting is that they remind us how Two and Three used to be and how they could’ve turned out. They also kept company like Tash and Wexler, which says a lot. Even their Android is deadly, making comments about how easily she could remove one of their heads.

The similarities and differences of the two crews is what made this episode shine. Both sides had tricks up their sleeves and were easily out maneuvering the other, constantly swapping who had the upper hand. They did all this despite having different members on their side. Porsia’s crew was willing to double cross one another for their own personal gain. Tash was going to blow them up just to win. While the crew of the Raza thought about one another and used their strengths to their advantage, such as when Adrian met with Wexler.

Adrian’s decision to leave felt similar to Six’s departure, which means it didn’t fully work. He felt like he didn’t have a place on the ship even though his information helped them out last time. He also helped them gain the upper hand on Wexler. He was a valuable part of the team, but then he decided to leave, and he’s taking Solara with him. It sort of made sense that he didn’t fit in with field work, but he could’ve easily stayed on the ship with The Android during further missions. He could also train with everyone on the ship to learn more skills. That being said his departure didn’t fully make sense.

It also felt illogical that the crew didn’t kill the doppelgangers and their crew. They’re dangerous and are willing to kill people and each other to fill their own agendas. Portia and Marcus spaced an entire ship full of people. Also, Portia is later seen talking to Neiman in an attempt to make some sort of deal. Letting them live is truly a mistake made by the Raza Crew.

Once again Ryo is having trouble leading. He’s making decisions more on emotions than he is battle strategy. He put Teku on his team, but now he’s refusing to listen to his advice. Ryo didn’t find any other conspirators either. Things are going downhill fast for him.

The crew has decided to check in on Six (aka Agent Zero) only to find a litter of dead bodies. Wonder how they’ll deal with their friend now that he might be in killer mode.
