Emmy Awards 2017: And The Nominees Are…

It’s that time of year again! The 2017 Emmy nominations have been announced and, while there are plenty of expected nominations, there are a few surprise (in a good way) nominations as well. Television this year has really stepped up its game. This is Us (which picked up quite a few nominations) took audiences on an emotional rollercoaster, while HBO’s Big Little Lies proved to be an engaging mini-series, and comedies like Atlanta and Brooklyn Nine-Nine continued excelling, managing to be better than before.

This year’s nominees were announced live this morning in Los Angeles by Veep actress Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore of S.W.A.T. Better Call Saul and Stranger Things were both nominated in the Best Drama Series category, while Master of None and Atlanta grabbed a nomination each for Best Comedy Series. Saturday Night Live and Westworld managed to get an impressive twenty two nominations each. The Handmaid’s Tale also picked up nominations, which is a win for Hulu and other streaming services with original content like Netflix (which also nabbed several award nominations for its shows).

The 69th annual Emmy Awards will be handed out live on September 17 at 8/7c on CBS.
