CW Renews Supernatural for a 14th Season

Supernatural isn’t done quite yet. In unsurprising news, The CW renewed the series yesterday for its 14th season, while also renewing the network’s entire superhero slate, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, Riverdale, Black Lightning, and Dynasty.

A 14th season for Supernatural will put the show past its 300th episode — an unprecedented number for an hour-long supernatural drama. But after last week’s successful crossover with Scooby-Doo, another renewal shouldn’t spell bad times to come. Supernatural hasn’t had a really great season since season 11, but there’s been enough interesting ideas and solid stand alone episodes that justifies Supernatural’s continued existence. I’m down.

Plus, there’s Wayward Sisters to consider. Though Jody Mills assured the Winchester brothers her and the girls have got Sioux Falls covered, another life for Supernatural means a chance for crossover opportunities. There isn’t any word yet on when Wayward Sisters will premiere, but it could be as soon as the fall. Either way, more information will come at the CW upfronts in May.

Supernatural airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW. You can follow my weekly reviews here.

Reviews of the rest of The CW slate can also be found on the site. Might as well go read them. There’s a lot more television to come.
