Wii U Releases This Sunday!

Nintendo’s brand new console, Wii U, is fast approaching its release date, and with it comes the announcement of more and more features that greet the next generation. Nintendo’s big push for Wii U is being able to operate your TV with its intuitive new touch screen controller, the GamePad. Below is a video that introduces you to the GamePad if you are not already familiar with it. Nintendo has a reputation for pushing the boundaries of both innovation and creativity, often having it pay off in the long run. We’ll have to wait until Sunday to see if this new controller is as outrageously popular as the Wii’s “Wiimote” was during its launch.

In addition to pioneering a new way to play, Wii U also introduces a set of online features which brings Nintendo into the current generation compared to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Allowing for up to 12 unique users on one Wii U console, players have the ability to chat with their friends and browse the internet from the GamePad or TV, as well as download games, demos and other apps through Nintendo’s online marketplace. Check out the videos below which detail some of the things that you can do with the new internet-savvy console.

Wii U releases this Sunday, November 18th. The console comes in a basic 8GB model and a deluxe 32GB model, for $300 and $350 respectively. Most stores are sold out of their preorders by now but you might be able to scavenge one up if you call around your local area. For a list of available launch games and further details on the new console I recommend checking out GameStop’s catalog. We’ll have to wait and see if the Wii U really is “How U Will Play Next.”
