Can’t Wait For ‘The Walking Dead’ To Come Back?

I know that you are all feeling the loss of not having your fill of The Walking Dead every Sunday, but that is no reason to despair. Just because The Walking Dead is on break until February doesn’t mean you have to wait until then to nourish your appetite for the undead.  Here are a couple of different zombie related TV shows, movies, etc., that you should check out to make sure you survive this famine.

1 – Get Back To The Basics

How about we go to the beginning? No I’m not talking about old books talking about the undead, but the cult classic movies where zombies first became, for lack of a better word, viral. This would include works from George Romero (Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead), Lucio Fulci (Zombie and City of the Living Dead), and Peter Jackson (Dead Alive). Not to say that current zombies are bad, but you can’t beat the founding films.

2 – Books To Movies

There are at least 2 zombie movies based on books coming out this year, and while the movies may not be good, the books are always better. The first is more of a zombie love story called Warm Bodies. It may not be a pick for everyone but it’s worth checking out. Think more along the lines of Twilight meets Zombies.

The other book/film is a little bit more for the traditional zombie lover. It is easily my favorite book (aside from The Zombie Suvival Guide) on the topic of zombies. World War Z  tells the story of a zombie pandemic and how the world is coping, told through individual accounts from survivors. Will the movie do the book justice? Probably not, but at least you would have read the book and can complain about the movie with other zombie enthusiasts.

3 – Free Your Inner Zombie Killer

Every now and then you wish you can join in on the zombie slaying action. Well if you have a computer or any video gaming systems now you can! Take this break from the tv show and kill some time of your own. Did you know that there is actually a Walking Dead video game? It follows a group of survivors in Georgia as they make their way through the state and try to survive. You even get to meet some familiar characters along the way.

4 – Get The Full Story

At this point, the only thing you know about The Walking Dead is what you’ve seen in the tv show. What if I told you some of the characters in tv show that died are actually still alive in the comic book? And what if I told you some of your favorites that are still alive in the show died along time ago in the comic? That’s just a small taste of the things you can know about the series that a lot of other people don’t know.

It’s a completely new level of zombie nerdom that you probably didn’t think was even possible. There are over 100 issues out already, so you shouldn’t run out of reading material for a good while. Haven’t you also wanted to be one of those people who are outraged when the show doesn’t go in the direction the original material did? Well now you can!
