Turns out a fresh face will be added to the “Walking Dead’s cast roster: Robert Kirkman’s comic book character Bob Stookey. In the comics, Bob, a middle aged, army medic veteran drunkard, used his medical skills to quickfix a mutilated and disfigured Governor. Though, like much of the comics, compared to the AMC incarnation, his character has gone through some readjustments for the television show.

Since AMC’s Bob Stookey will appear after the Governor’s disfigurement, theoretically, his role will go beyond being a deus ex machina to save the Governor. Originally, when a casting call was sent out, it was under “Roy Stark.” Though according to the update from idigitaltimes, it was confirmed that the characters name is (seemingly) Bob Stookey. Roy Stark was probably used to veil any chance of spoilers and to keep the character a surprise.

The “in the talks” actor to play Bob is Lawrence Gilliard Jr. He, like Chad Colemen (who plays Tyreese), is “Wire” alumni and has appeared in various television, movie and theatre roles. Robert Kirkman promised “big” differences from Season Three. Like many character incarnations, it will be interesting to see where this character will be taken in its conversion to the screen.
