*cue Morgan Freeman voice* When a mysterious dome descends and cuts off a once peaceful town from the rest of the world, panic and mayhem instantly arise. Now residents must depend upon each other for survival while still holding onto their deep dark secrets.
In what might be the most epic summer mini-series yet, Under the Dome, brings a wave of events that could possibly take place when people are cut off from civilization. If you haven’t already began watching Under the Dome, here are ten reasons why you should start:
1. Based on Stephen King’s book
If you’ve ever been a fan of Stephen King’s suspense and mostly disturbing novels, you’ll know that you’re always in for a treat when they hit the big screens. Now, not only do you get to see a visual view on what the town of Chester’s Mills might look like but get to watch all the characters you hated, loved or just kinda liked come alive from King’s thrilling novel.

2. The series is in good hands
When has the ever great and wondrous Steven Spielberg ever let you down? He’s never produced a show that didn’t make it big (Falling Skies, E.T. , Memoirs of a Geisha, Transformers, Eagle Eye, Men in Black II and III, etc.) and sure as hell isn’t going to allow Under the Dome to be the first. Also, the widely acclaimed Brian K. Vaughn is the television writer and producer for Under the Dome. Vaughn is well-known mainly for his producing and writing of the hit series Lost. Between Spielberg and Vaughn, this show can only continue to get better.

3. Has actors you love
There’s also Breaking Bad‘s, Dean Norris, who is acting as the underhanded councilman who from the beginning of the show is obviously hiding one of the biggest secrets in the town. Knowing the kind of characters Dean Norris is inclined to play, Under the Dome could never get dull.

4. Possibly only one season
For those persons who aren’t really into religiously following a series will be more than delighted to hear that Under the Dome will only have 13 episodes. Plus, with only one season, there’ll be no time for the series to go downhill like some shows that start out with a bang and go flat after awhile .
5. If you’re into Sci-fi, Suspense or Fast-paced TV shows, this is DEFINITELY your show
Under the Dome has just the right mixture of Sci-fi and Suspense and also a quickly progressing story line that’ll hold the attention of any individual. At the end of each episode, you’re always left wondering: why do those two teens keep having synchronized seizures while mumbling about falling pink stars whenever they touch? Is Britt Robertson’s character ever going to escape from that fallout shelter? What exactly is Dean Norris’ character up to with that amount of propane? And most important question of all, where on earth did the dome come from?
6. The Dome might just be some sort of artificial intelligence
In one of the most recent of episodes, the two teens who have occasional synchronized seizures taped themselves going into an attack, and were shocked by what they saw. Now, there’s reason to believe that the dome obviously doesn’t want them to know more than they do now. Personally, I believe that the dome is being controlled by extraterrestrial life forms but hey, that’s just what my Sci-fi senses tingling. However, if this was the case, the show would be more than cliche and cliche is certainly not King’s or Spielberg’s style.
7. An Exciting Filler
While most popular TV shows have gone on a summer hiatus, Under the Dome seizes the opportunity to monopolize the air waves and acts as an exciting filler while viewers await the return of their usual television series.
8. The Simpsons Movie Theory
Contrary to popular belief, Under the Dome is not a cheap rip-off of the beloved The Simpsons Movie. Stephen King corrected this theory in a recent YouTube Live interview saying that he’d thought of the idea in the 70’s but hadn’t resurrected the notion till now. Still, I think that if King had started development before The Simpson Movie came out, he wouldn’t have to be fighting off the rumors. As cliche as it is, the early bird truly gets the worm.
9. More than just a dome
Despite the fact that the show is mainly about the mysterious, transparent semi-permeable structure covering the small town, it goes deeper than that. The series gives viewers an insight into how individuals would possibly behave when they feel that their well-being and world is being jeopardized.
10. Excellent Pointers
Under the Dome also gives a detailed guide on how to escape/survive a dome if ever your own town was to be covered by one. Who knows? In this day and age, anything is possible.
