Netflix + Marvel = 4?
The release of Thor: The Dark World isn’t the only big thing Marvel has done recently. It was announced that Netflix and Marvel will be teaming up to create 4 new super hero shows that will all converge in a special event called Defenders. Defenders of what, you must be wondering. Defenders of the world? The galaxy? The universe? No, you’re thinking much too broad. Every super hero and heroine has their start more locally, and that is no exception for the 4 heroes getting their own shows. You may or may not recognize some of them unless you are a hardened comic book fan, but I can assure you they are each awesome in their own respects.
First we have Daredevil, the blind, crime-fighting lawyer. You might remember seeing him on the big screen played (badly) by Ben Affleck, but don’t let that discourage you from getting excited to see him re-done on the small screen. Next is Luke Cage AKA Power Man. Most of you don’t know anything about him, but he is an African American gun-for-hire with super strength and impervious skin. He is usually seen with his partner Iron Fist, who is the third person getting their own show. Since Iron Fist is getting his own show, chances are he won’t be teaming up with Luke Cage right away. This way we can focus on his martial arts training and upbringing. Last, but not least is Jessica Jones, possibly the most complex story to try to translate into a tv show. She is known by many names and aliases, eventually marries and has a child with one of the 3 men listed above (I won’t spoil the surprise), and went to high school with Peter Parker/Spiderman.
It may come off as a way to incorporate much lacking diversity in the the white male dominated Marvel screen universe, but in all honesty, it is so much more than DC is doing right now. Another potentially great aspect of this is that every show can be done in a different style. Some background stories are darker and violent, some are grittier and urban, some are more legal drama, and others are more heavy handed in martial arts. I assume each will be stand alone, so if for whatever reason of them doesn’t appeal to you, you don’t have to watch it. Of course that also means you won’t enjoy the mini event all the shows will lead up to as much as the people who watched every episode of each show, but ultimately, I’m sure you will still enjoy it. Too bad we have to wait a while for it…
Doctor Who, Who, and Who?
If any of you Whovians out there are anything like me, you are eagerly awaiting the Day of the Doctor 50th Anniversary special. Not just because it combines the aspects of a lot of Doctor Who erotica (since there are multiple Doctors involved), but because you get David Tennant and Billie Piper back. For many of you newer Doctor Who fans, this was the team that made you fall in love with the show. For everyone else, this coupling is the one that rekindled your interest in the series.

The trailer is full of enemies. We have the Daleks, a city that looks very Gallifreyan, weird creatures called Zygons, Rose Tyler with time vortex eyes, fezes, and 3 Doctors. The worst part of the trailer is that it still doesn’t reveal what the special will be about, leaving us to wildly guess. Is John Hurt the incarnation of the Doctor that ended the great Time War? Or is he part of a different battle that effects all of time and space? Who knows, but I doubt Steven Moffat will disappoint.
Batman Fan Fiction ‘The Deal’
There are very few fan fictions out there that interest me. Especially since most of them quickly turn into a sort of erotica that leaves you scarred and unable to get certain images out of your head. This one is no exception, but I mean that in the best possible way. Batman: The Deal is a comic book fan fiction written by Gerardo Preciado and drawn by Daniel Bayliss that shows Batman and the Joker take their already questionable relationship to the next level. The outcome is very dark, but also not altogether unimaginable.
