Five Super Bowl 2015 Commercial Touchdowns

[tps_title]Super Bowl Commercial Countdown[/tps_title]

Perhaps the most important part of the Super Bowl is the commercials. (I mean, Patriots who? Am I right?) But seriously, I didn’t even know what teams were playing until I turned on the TV to watch the lovely million dollar commercials. Then I saw Tom Brady’s lovely face and said “Well, looks like I have to root for those Patriots again. Where are they from?” but that’s a story for another day.

Awareness, dads, and cars seemed to be a recurring theme this year and most were great in hilarious ways or inspiring ways but here are the top ads that made my list. (In no specific order or in order.)

A puppy runs away from home, almost gets hit by a car, eaten by a wolf and then gets saved by his horse friend who takes him home to daddy. It is like a movie or book. It had its exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion—a beautifully happy ending that leaves you in tears (or maybe that was just me).

I mean, I have no idea what a puppy running away from home has do with Budweiser, but let’s be honest, I want to buy that beer for the rest of my days because I’m just so happy that the little guy found his way back home with the help of his best friend, the horse; yay for happy endings, cute animals, and guys that love dogs. (Because seriously, you can’t trust cat people).

I’m no commercial creator or whatever they’re called but I could imagine it’s difficult to advertise a commercial for sanitary pads. I mean, how do you get people to want to buy your product without being gross about it? You use pre-pubescent girl empowerment. Duh, it’s 2015 people! Who run the world? Girls!

Although it’s unclear if this was scripted, it targets little girls and embodies the idea that girls can run, fight, and pretty much do anything just like anybody else. In a world where puberty can be tough, I think it’s inspiring that little girls can watch this and be like “See that Nicholas? I told you I could run faster than you!”

[tps_title]Doritos And Airplanes[/tps_title]

Doritos Super bowl commercials always seem to make the list on these things so it’s no surprise I was waiting for an epic Dorito adventure. Now, the great thing about this is that we can all relate. We’re sitting on that plane, watching people pass by to sit and praying that they won’t sit next to us. What in the world is more relatable then that?

Then the dude see’s a pretty girl and tries to lure her in with his Dorito’s (where did the Doritos come from? I don’t know but I just went with it), and see’s she has a baby. “When your mom wakes up can you tell her about me?” He asks the baby who is enjoying one of his Dorito’s. Who can resist those delicious little things? (the Dorito not the baby, guys)

[tps_title]Aaron Paul Weight Watchers[/tps_title]

Okay, I think we can all relate to this commercial on a spiritual level. One, hello it’s Aaron Paul and two, hello it’s Aaron Paul talking about how much we all love food. Oh man, AP just totally gets me right here.

“Wanna get baked? And glazed? Iced? Fried? How much do you want?” Yes, Aaron, yes to all the foods.

If you’ve watched Breaking Bad or are a drug dealer (I hope it’s not the latter) then you know how amazingly metaphoric this commercial is. Instead of your cute and witty neighborhood drug dealer, Aaron plays your cute and witty neighborhood food dealer. This commercial is well thought out and it wins my heart.

[tps_title]Chevy: Broken TV[/tps_title]

Remember that time you were waiting for Kick-off and the TV started freaking out before going black? “This has never happened before! Why is it happening now?” You yelled, starring at your TV in disappointment. Oh wait, that was just me? My bad…luckily, it was just a Chevy commercial so I am happy to report that it all worked out!

I thought this was absolutely brilliant. The people behind this commercial are advertising their built in 4G LTE WI-FI and posing the very important question “What would you do if your TV went out?” Well, I would yell obviously. Well-done Chevy. I don’t drive trucks, but if I did I’d totally get your car that’s built with WI-FI because damn, I don’t want my TV to go out when The Walking Dead returns.
