TV News: AnnaSophia Robb To Star in Sex & the City prequel ‘The Carrie Diaries’

We reported awhile ago that The CW was planning on adapting Candace Bushnell’s The Carrie Diaries to the small screen. We speculated who would and could play a young and coming-of-age Carrie Bradshaw. Well, it looks like AnnaSophia Robb has landed the coveted role!

“Robb will play a young Carrie Bradshaw as she comes of age in the 1980s, asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.”

You may recognize Robb from movies like Bridge to Terabithia or more recently, Soul Surfer. I personally like Robb and I’m very happy with this casting decision. I have little to no doubt that Robb can play this role. In addition, Stefania Owen (Running Wilde) has been cast as Dorrit, Carrie’s younger sister. It sounds like the show will be following Bushnell’s books. I skipped reading the first and went in reading the second book, which I adored.  Whatever the case, I’m curious to see who else they cast, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be checking this show out this Fall season.
