It’s been a while since we last saw Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) in action, but now Starz is bringing the horror-comedy legend to the small screen with the new series Ash vs. Evil Dead.

One of the original plans for a continuation of the series called for a sequel to the 2013 remake, followed by Army of Darkness 2 and a seventh film that would mesh the two film series together. However, at last year’s Comic-Con, Sam Raimi announced that, instead, he and Campbell would be developing a television series instead.

Ash vs. Evil Dead will run for ten episodes this fall. Raimi–who wrote and directed the first three Evil Dead films–will direct the first episode, which is co-written by his brother Ivan. Aside from Campbell, regulars in the series will include Ray Santiago (In Time), Jill Marie Jones (Sleepy HollowGirlfriends), and Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess).

The series takes place several decades following 1992’s Army of Darkness (and seems to take the film’s American “good” ending as canon) and follows an older Ash as he once again battles the undead with his companions.

The trailer for the series premiered yesterday at the San Diego Comic-Con, and you can view it below. Fans of Evil Dead‘s trademark mix of horror, comedy, and action should find plenty to love.
